Why would you not want to atleast have the choice of having more features? Oh ya because Steve trained Apple fans to hate Flash. Meanwhile HTML5 isn't going anywhere.

Whoever voted yes... are stupid trolls.

This isn't motorola Xoom. Apple does things their own way.

Despite all the arguments, I can guarantee you one thing.

If there was a free app on the app store that fully enabled Flash on the iPad, despite what all the haters may personally feel, it would, without question rocket to the top, most downloaded app, probably of al time on the app store on the very 1st day.

That alone would be an example of public opinion on the subject.

2 million Skyfire downloads and counting, I'd say the public is speaking loud and clear. The inane arguments against Flash aside, bottom line is it's something consumers want. Sometimes a consumer may not know they want it, they may simply be baffled why the internet doesn't "work" on their "magical" device. Just like some never thought Android would overtake iOS, it will be interesting to see what Apple does in the long term.

2 million? That's about 2% of iOS users. Does that really count as "speaking loud and clear"?

Of the 50+ million Android devices that shipped last year without Flash, only 6 million bothered to download it (12%).

Trolls? Whatever dude, people want the option- don't knock them for that.

To at least implement flash is completely feasible. I use "flash block" as a Firefox add-on which allows me to access flash content as and when I need it with a simple click. The fact that Apple won't even consider this kind option is a testament to Steve Jobs unwavering stubbornness and need to dictate how others operate.

Or, you know, he simply disagrees with your assessment of the situation.

That number is growing, flash isn't going anywhere. All the technological arguments are solved simply with a flash switch. Which leaves just shilling for Jobs odd plan to rid the world of the evils of something which is an important and not fully replaceable part of the internet.

But you know what, keep fighting the good fight. I see you slipping, you are only responding to every 2nd or 3rd post, flash might take over the world in your absence.

That number is growing,

So is the iOS install base. What is your point?

flash isn't going anywhere.

I never claimed Flash is going anywhere. In fact, I claimed just the opposite three posts ago in this thread. I think Flash will be around for a long, long time and is the best technology for a lot of situations. Amazingly, just because I don't use Flash doesn't mean I support every idiotic argument to pop up.

Just because some things aren't important to you, doesn't mean they aren't important to others. I haven't used Flash in 5+ years. My decision has nothing to do with Steve Jobs or Apple. It has nothing to do with performance.

But you know what, keep fighting the good fight. I see you slipping, you are only responding to every 2nd or 3rd post, flash might take over the world in your absence.

What do you think goes on in these forums? I'm not trying to change anyone's mind or change the world. I'm trying to have a discussion about a topic that interests me. It would be helpful if you responded to what I said instead of assuming I support whatever rhetoric your anti-flash stereotype would say.

Simply out, the lack of flash on iOS is a non issue for the majority of users. Its only is for a niche audience. If it was a big issue for Joe Public then it would have been on the news like antennagate. I have friends who are just the general user, not overly into technology like people on here and they don't even know what flash is or even care.
