100% brightness, it's fine. Not that I ever use 100% brightness.
Seems a lot of the bleed complainers have only come here to complain, pinch of salt fixes the "problem"
Bit like the iPhone death grip, ipad wifi problem and the 27" iMac screen issues to name only a few, of all the real issues I'd bet less than 10% are genuine as opposed to people just along for the ride.

Nope mine is perfect from day one.
So we have photoshop bleeding going on out there? Interesting.
Case in point, VidPro has the majority of their posts in the iPad 2 bleeding thread (currently at 71 pages and 1766 posts) and most of the rest in other iPad 2 problem threads, with such a record you'd think VidPro must be a bit of an expert, someone with a lot of first hand knowledge ... hold on, Do you actually have an iPad 2?
Or did you come to mac rumors to slate the iPad 2?
As I said, take it with a pinch of salt, with experts like these the internet is spoiling us.
And for the record, I'd guess that if you are going to use your iPad 2 with the brightness at 100% in the dark, your eyes will most likely bleed before the screen. Posted from actual experience not internet rumor and speculation.
What IS your point 2 OWLS?
No problems with mine whatsoever. Black/3G
Someone PLEASE post a picture of a perfect iPad 2 screen. I'm begging you!!!!!!!!!
His point is that I am just a troll who doesn't own an iPad 2. I've come here to take advantage of the light leak hysteria. I wish I had so little to do during the day that I needed to fill my time this way.
Gimme some time here and you'll learn to love me, bud.
This is fine for those who are apparently OK with it.
My question is how do these people feel about the fact that every Apple Store employee I have spoken to on this, including several store managers, have all said the screen of the iPad 2 "should NOT look like that". Look at how Apple is handling this.. hell, they aren't even looking at most of these returned iPads as they KNOW it's an issue and they KNOW it isn't their normal level of quality.
But those that are cool with sub-standard quality enjoy.. I personally don't get that perspective/attitude.. especially when the actual manufacturer of the device agrees.
Hey, I phoned up Applecare as my iPad has backlight bleeding as well. I asked if Apple were aware of them problem and was told that they are.The Applecare man asked me if he should make an appointment for me in my local Apple Store but I said that I have read of people having replaced their iPad 2's multiple times just to have the same problem, and that this is too much hassle. I then asked how long I should wait to go into my Apple store for a replacement, and was told 4 months!(I'm like woah, by then the iPad 3 will almost be out) but I plan to wait a month or two and phone up to see if the problem is sorted as the problem shouldn't take so long to fix. C'mon APPLE!! (I know they don't read this, lol)
I am sure there are some people with no issues, but many people like me won't notice it or think its normal. I wouldn't have really noticed it if I hadn't read it on these forums. But there must be some people with perfect iPads!
Hope this helps!!
Another possibility is that the amount of backlight bleed I have is less than you've seen, and what I've seen really isn't that bad. As I said, I never noticed it on my iPad 1 until all this discussion made me go looking for it. Same is true with my iPad 2. Maybe some people have it much worse, and for them I'd say, great, return it. My point was that worrying about whether or not to get an iPad right now for fear of getting one that has backlight bleed issues is a waste of energy. Better to just get one, and if the particular unit you get has pretty bad backlight issues, then just return it and have it replaced.
Okay, just for giggles, I took some quick photos of my iPad 1 and my iPad 2 with the brightness turned all the way up in a dark room, with a more or less black screen. Interestingly, the photos showed areas of backlight bleed that I couldn't even see. However, I pointed out the areas that were visible on each. At this point, it kind of looks like my old iPad 1 had worse backlight bleed than my iPad 2. Maybe I should return it and demand my money back...
As an aside, there is one use that I can see for having the backlight turned all the way up in a dark room. Space videos. Seeing the planets, stars, etc., glowing with intense brightness is really spectacular!

Well, all I can say is keep waiting for that 'perfect' LCD screen, and its never going to happen. I don't care what an Apple Specialist or AppleCare rep tells you. Don't you get it that this has been going on in two generations of devices now. Why do you think they would change it now? They can't keep them on the shelf, which means there is no issue from a masses standpoint. Most are happy with their devices. A year from now, you'll be posting the same thing over and over again about substandard this and that, and the rest of the masses will be enjoying their device. Hopefully you aren't in the market to buy an oversized LCD television anytime soon. I'd love to see how that plays out.
Seriously though, why not just avoid the iPad and go buy something else that lives up to your standards? Apple products are what they are. If you don't think that your money is worth the quality that you get, then simply don't buy one. You are the empowered consumer, and on the same token, Apple owes you nothing.
By then they will replace it with a refurb!
