Thats okay... it's iPad 3. There will be 40 million sales in the first weekend. :D:apple:

No there won't. They'll run out the first day due to underestimated demand, as usual, and then it will be 4 months before you can walk in and buy one. Plan on waiting in line for hours everyday hoping to get one from the small allotment each store will have.

What I wish they would do is have about 20 million units in inventory at launch.

IMHO, I think Apple is working on that. Ip4s was "fastest rollout" and I'm pretty sure they want to be better with each new product in every way. I doubt, that you could go and buy one from day 1 (I think that is another "feature" of Apple - they showing world and their shareholders that people are ready to stand in line for their priduct), but I really hope that you could do it in month or two)

What seems to make Apple more keen on incremental upgrades than they where say two years ago?

Yeah, I guess what I mean is in the nomenclature: iPhone 4 >> iPhone 4S, iPhone 3G etc. There's a path of unpredicatbility in its iDevices. This isn't necessarily a trend, but there have been plenty of rumors claiming the iPad 3 will be the iPad 2HD, or something.

That's all I'm saying -- I'm not attempting to be definitive, just putting the notion out there.

So if the display is 2x or 4 times the number of pixels, will the touchscreen also be a higher resolution to match the display? Or are we all satisfied with the fingerpainting ability of our iPads. Personally I love the finger interface, but there are definitely times when using a stylus with some definite finepoint accuracy would be an advantage!

I'm just sayin'

There is no connection between the screen resolution and digitizer. Unless they are changing the size of the UI components (buttons, tabs, etc.) then they're the same size, just sharper and more detailed.

I check the Apple site a few times a day to see when Pre-Orders will be taken. Since I moved out of a big city with an inside contact at Best Buy, I can no longer get one on launch day. :( But I'm ready to order as soon as they are available.

Have read a few rumors in response to Apple's invitation to the March 7 event that the iPad 3 will have no home button. Anyone buy it? Is this post a fake then?

This and the other glass could be for a new, cheaper version of the iPad 2. If this is the glass for the retina display, I'm surprised. I thought they would bond the glass and display ala iPhone retina display.
