iPad 3 Front Glass Reveals No Significant Changes: Round Home Button, Camera and Sensor Holes

I don't get the "only an iPad 2S". Should Apple make the next one a circular screen, kind of like a dinner plate, just so it can be different enough to be called a "3"?

Are you implying that all those Apple lawsuits against Samsung for copying iPad design are frivolous?

The "S" doesn't stand for anything in particular that we know of. Speed, Steve, or just some random letter used for marketing. Much like the "i", which has gone through several meanings and is now meaningless, the "S" can be whatever people/Apple want it to mean.

So far, the only time Apple has used the "S" nomenclature is when the phone gets a decent but not huge upgrade, keeps it's physical features almost exactly the same as the previous model, and new features are scarce. Does this all fit with the upcoming iPad? Perhaps, but we won't know until the iPad specs are announced. Much like the "i", Apple could simply choose not to give this model a letter simply because they choose not to.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Steve Jobs himself said that, with regard to the iPhone 3GS, "the "S" stands for Speed".

Edit: This was during the 2009 Keynote address.

What's the difference between iPhone 4 and 4S other than the 4S has 4 black bands in the steel frame and 4 only had 3.
At first glance both iPhones are looking the same. But if you take a closer look, you will find subtle changes. Take the volume/mute buttons for example, which have moved a little compared to the 4-non-S. Or take a closer look at the glass edges, which are different on both devices. And of course the black bands you already mentioned...

Absolutely correct.

Bought a 3GSpeed on day of release. Still going strong now!

Yes, but it's certainly not noticeable. The product intro video they did for 4S didn't feature Jony Ive at all. I think it was one of the few (the only one?) that didn't feature him in some way. Did Apple ever do product intro video's for the first iPhone and 3G/GS? If Apple puts out a new intro video for this iPad and Jony's not part of it that's the best indication that Apple considers this iPad to have the same form function as iPad 2. It wouldn't surprise me either - with the rumored redesigns of Macbook Pro/Air's as well as TV rumors and of course the new iPhone I'm sure the design team is busy enough. So honestly I could care less if iPad 3 (or whatever they call it) looks just like iPad 2. I just hope the iPad 2 smart covers continue to work with it.

Who cares about the rear camera, that's for my iPhone to take pictures. I just want a 1080p front facing camera for HD facetime.

All fake ...

That's almost all the parts out there to build an iPad 3:
• logic board
• ribbon cables
• back case
• front glass
• LCD panel

These are all fake parts to misdirect all of us ... now wouldn't that be a surprise.

A rear camera to take 1080p. Wouldn't a 2-3 mega pixel camera be more than enough for that. I doubt we will see an 8 mega pixel especially if the processor is only getting a modest upgrade.

No, you need to go back to the video tape. When Steve Jobs unveiled the 3GS he specifically noted the "s" stood for speed. It was also noted in 4S reviews like this on in the Guardian

I wonder how long it'll be before it's just The New iPad, or The New iPhone. I mean, nobody says Macbook Pro 12, or iPod Nano 7.

maybe if we didn't care so much about apple products, these leaks wouldn't be so interesting.

I like the idea of Apple dropping the whole number thing from future iPhones and iPads, like the current iPod and Mac lines. And maybe bring back the classic Macintosh brand for the next iMacs...

I check the Apple site a few times a day to see when Pre-Orders will be taken. Since I moved out of a big city with an inside contact at Best Buy, I can no longer get one on launch day. :( But I'm ready to order as soon as they are available.

How would one go about assembling this? Now with the front panel, I think I have just about everything I need to build my own iPad 3. What kind of adhesive should I use?

I think it will spoil the conference but maybe the apps will make up for it?

The Ipad 2 rumours were well wrong. They predicted a retina and it never happened.

smaller bezel?

Is it just me or does the bezel look dramatically smaller? I would like this, I don't think that we need such a large bezel on the iPad. Having such a large bezel seems to be a big complaint when the iPad 1 came out, but I don't see why apple would decide to change it now.

Thats okay... it's iPad 3. There will be 40 million sales in the first weekend. :D:apple:

No there won't. They'll run out the first day due to underestimated demand, as usual, and then it will be 4 months before you can walk in and buy one. Plan on waiting in line for hours everyday hoping to get one from the small allotment each store will have.

What I wish they would do is have about 20 million units in inventory at launch.

The iPad 3 better not have a dual core processor

I'll absolutely go ******* ****ing crazy, I'll be running up the wall doing backflips. I'm sick of Apple pulling ******** all the time (like the iPhone screen size).

Sorry, I already started raging. It's gonna be an intense couple of weeks while I wait for the announcement. Maybe there will be another leak haha :D
