Still no jailbreak
Figures... maybe I was generous saying 4 months like the iPad 2. Maybe half a year this time.

I realize I asked for an untethered but at this point my iPad isn't leaving my room until it's gone full potential...

Is there a tethered jailbreak out? I just want to watch some anime on VLC since AVplayer dies to 10-bit...

On the subject of an iPad 3 jailbreak I wouldn't hold my breath. The iPad 2 took 4 months from release to Jailbreakme 3. The iPad 3 has been jailbroken which is good news but it takes a LONG time to develop a working jailbreak for the A5 equipped devices. I've been jailbreaking since the original iPhone and have gone through this alot and in my opinion we aren't going to see an A5 iOS 5.1 jailbreak until sometime after June 1 at the soonest. I hope I'm wrong though.

Hopefully my guess turns out to be right, I thought I might have been a little pessimistic at the time.

If iOS 6 launches before they get a decent start on the a5x, it could be quite a while.

They would have to figure out the new processor (though it wouldn't be as hard as an a6 because it's only partially upgraded) as well as bypass all of the new safe guards, I just hope it's before that.
