I'll admit the rumors of a high-res ipad have piqued my interest, whether it be 6 months down the road or 12. It should be said, however, that I am also uncertain whether I want an ipad, one of the upcoming non-apple tablets, or nothing at all. I'm usually pretty stingy with my money, and when I buy something, I keep it until it breaks. Hell, I've been putting off buying an ipod touch until they put 128GB in the thing. I have no problem waiting for a tablet to come out that really seals the deal for me.

Apple is going to change the iPad's refresh cycle closer to the holiday season at some point...better to do it when the product is relatively new. Another iPad in September isn't what I want since I'm going to be buying the iPad 2, but it could definitely happen.

I'll be hanging on to my iPad 1 until iPad 3 arrives - regardless of when that is - and assuming that it comes with a dual-core A5/gpu and retina dispay ( I'm guessing it'll need dual-core proc/gpu to drive a retina display ).

Still living in hope for a 7" iPad.....won't be able to get the cash out quick enough, should one of those get announced....

Nobody NEEDS an iPad... Nobody NEEDS anything apart from water, food, warmth and shelter.

Why also have nothing but melodramatic options in the poll?

Yes, I'll buy an iPad 2, and if a new one launches a few months after (LMFAO!) I'll buy that one too. At this price-point, for me it's throw-away tech.

This is coming from the same guy who is notorious for calling out "Look what I can afford" posts...Geez Gryzor, you truly are something special. Like shortbus special.

Okay I've been thinking about this for a few day now and I maybe found something interesting that could explain an iPad 3. For example, there are macbooks and macbooks pro. What if Apple decided to reproduce this scheme and apply it to the iPad? I mean, you could have the current ''iPad 2'' who would present minor updates, whilst a ''iPad Pro'' could innovate: retina, memory starting at 32gB, 7 inch (don't scream), pre installed apps such as keynote etc...

Allthough it is speculation, what if? :)

lmao..hit the nail on the head there. Wish he would just leave the forum.

On topic. Ill stick with my ipad I have now till iPad 3 comes out.

I think anyone who believes the 2011 iPad 3 rumor needs to get their head checked.

personally I think anyone who believes ipad 2 rumors at this point, should be inline to get their head checked. Until Apple announces it I won't believe it.

My only major complaints with the existing iPad are the screen and the lack of RAM. Since it sounds like only one of those issues will be rectified in iPad 2, I'll probably wait for the 3rd generation, which will hopefully bring a higher resolution screen. I suppose that will somewhat depend on what the resale value of my existing iPad is after the gen 2 comes out - if I can step up for only $100 or so difference, I probably will.

...

I will be getting a touchpad actually unless apple starts supporting flash. I sold my ipad to get a macbook pro because I like the full internet (actually I hate flash but there are some sites I need it for)

It is hard to believe Digitimes. I just read that it said Touchpad by HP will start selling in April. Now, they should, but HP said that they will target it summer. April is Spring. Digitimes have bad sources.

Ultimate question: will the iPad 2 enhance user experience? Better apps require more RAM, faster processor, better graphics, improved os, more useful api, etc.

Rumors have killed any purchase for me -- not happening until there is some clarity.
I won't plunk down my hard-earned cash for 6 month obsolescence.

Agree, but there is always gazelle.com. Sure, you get a portion back. It works better, if the product is subidized.

ok so now the iPad 2 may be delayed till June... what does this mean for the iPad 3? Surely they won't release an iPad 3 three months later...

I hope they iPad isn't delayed, but if it is I would feel more confident that the iPad 3 wouldn't be released for about a full year.

So we're discussing the meaning behind a rumor about another rumor and its impact on a third rumor?

My head hurts! :D

Ummm, unless you are running Windows and IE, you are NOT, getting the "full" internet, just a larger portion of it.

That rumor has been squashed.

What you need is to add, "I already have an iPad, wasn't going to get iPad 2 anyway", to the poll.

Yes I will upgrade immediately..im an upgrade whore; I can't stand to have the older model. Plus, I always give my older gadgets away so it's win/win :)

The biggest draw for me in regards to Ipad2 is the camera and lightness.

Well, I wasn't going to upgrade anyway. For me to upgrade there must be a really huge difference (like a higher res screen). I'm happy with the iPad 1, and I wont miss the front facing camera that will definitely come with iPad 2. Yet, I can not deny I want 512 mb of RAM. iPad sometimes just has not enough ram, but my iPhone 4 rarely has to close anything in the background out of it self.
