I'm curious to see just exactly how many people enjoy the iPod and how many are disappointed, because as far as I can tell there are a lot of complaints about the new iPad.

71%, I think that means it's a majority, right?

Impressive. On a forum notorious for dissatisfied complaints, this poll shows 90%+ satisfaction of actual ipad3 users. :)

Depends from the point of view. Failure rate for low-end chinese products is usually around 1-1.5%. "A" brand in top market segment need to have failure rate less than 0.1-0.2%. 90%+ satisfaction on this forum looks more like epic fail iPad3 QC. Just check other treads on Macrumors - the same percentage of "dissatisfied complainers" creates much less complaints. Guess why?

Mine is flawless. I'm on it now.

Same here, I didn't get a tinted screen or hairs or any discernible defects (and trust me, I inspected it thoroughly.) It's truly a relief, since I had it shipped overseas and a return would've been almost impossible x.x

As expected the large majority (86% currently) are satisfied with their ipad 3, I just wanted to show new comers that the device isnt a big problem magnet that this forum tends to make it look, after all society likes to voice negative opinions a lot more than positive.

Im not so sure what's going on with the hostility I'm receiving, the results look positive to me.

Jumping from Ipad 1 to Ipad 3 was a world of difference. I honestly would not know the difference between an ipad 2 to ipad 3. Retina? only if you have copies of movies in HD.

Not sure about that. I don't watch movies on my iPad but the retina display is immediately noticeable for text.

My screen is beautiful & the iPad works really smoothly. I'm going to need a second job to support my app store habits I think :D This is my 1st iPad & I'm pretty surprised at how much I use it, it really does handle a huge amount of my Internet needs.

Oh and the text quality is amazing, crisp & clear, no eye strain at day's end. I never used to be an Apple supporter but must admit, this is a great device.

Tell us how you really feel about the new iPad :p

It is a great device :)

Oh please. 90+% satisfaction in a forum where dissatisfaction is the norm (because of an abundance of complainers like you) does the opposite of what you're saying. It suggests that in the real world, satisfaction is even higher.

I was never an Apple fan, got my 1st Mac, an MBA as a gift, grudgingly admitted that perhaps Apple did have a nice idea or two. This iPad has forced me to admit that there is much good about Apple. I'll never "hate" Windows but now Apple products are also welcome here. I love quality hardware & the 2 Apple devices I own are quality.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy my new iPad 3, but I've been using it way more than my own MacBook. I'm really satisfied :)

i was one of the ones that voted that i like my iPad 2 better. i will clarify in that before last week i didn't own an iPad at all. i tried a friend's "new" iPad (3rd generation) and another friend's iPad 2 for what i plan on doing the most: watching HD mp4 videos, streaming video from apps and websites, emails/messages, and the occasional document. the screen on the 3rd generation is considerably better for reading the average text document however i did not notice a difference when watching the same 720p mp4 movie on both devices. however i did notice that the 3rd generation iPad ran considerably hotter in my left hand when watching HD content to the point that my left hand was on the verge of sweating after a few minutes of watching a 720p movie. that pretty much was the deal breaker for me so i decided to buy an iPad 2 16GB wifi refurb for $319 directly from Apple.com . as of this morning the iPad started to type on its own, randomly opening apps, closing apps, typing into text fields, going into options etc. i tried to restore the device and reload iOS but it still did it. i'm guessing the touch screen was shot. went to an apple store and they swapped my iPad 2 out with another refurb and restored it in 15 minutes. A+ in my book

regardless of which one i went with, i'm glad i bought an iPad as this device is truly amazing and i'm thrilled i don't have to "boot up" anything when i want to check my email. what a relief!

I've had all 3 iPads so far and the New iPad is absolutely the best so far. I have no issues at all with it. I am very glad that I decided to trade the 32GB LTE model in for the 64GB LTE model as I don't ever have to worry about running out of room. Just downloaded my first book on the New iPad yesterday and am now enjoying reading on it now as well.

Hardware is fine (better front facing camera would be nice, but fine). Screen is great.

All the iPad's problems are iOS related.

...

Its great but so was my ipad 2. Retina means nothing to me i would recomend people buy the new ipad 2 over the new ipad lol

Very happy but I understand the complaints and those who have gone through the return merry-go-round.

Yes, overall.
Battery doesn't last as long as ipad2, cost me almost 50% more after selling my ipad2., but over all happy.

Overall happy. Few glitches here n there. I liked the old iPad 1 safari hidden tabs/thumb. This new tab system takes up screen space and is a privacy issue. Hopefully they'll bring it back as an option in the future. I wanted a camera that is equal to the current standard on most mobile phones 8-10mpx. But hey, isn't that what the iPad 4 will be for?

2). I really wish it had an SD card slot. Of course, that would require Apple to fulfill my no.1 complaint of file access.

I highly doubt that I will ever see either of these fulfilled. It's a shame. Will I continue to enjoy my iPad? Yes, most certainly. But until or unless I get file access it can never be the 'perfect' device for me.

Yes, putting a SD card slot into ANY new apple device is like adding on a floppy disk drive. Their vision is that files will be shared wirelessly. See iCloud.

However, I am delighted to have a SD card slot on my Mac mini ;)

I'm very happy with my iPad 3, even more so now that I got the 64GB version. The screen is beautiful, the 1GB makes a difference in some gaming apps and I use it even more than my old iPad 2.

Btw, Reduce the screen brightness and your iPad 3 won't get so warm. I turned my brightness down and it works for me.

dislike the added warmth (even through gel case) and long recharge times.

Would I go back to an iPad 2? No way!

Not sure about that. I don't watch movies on my iPad but the retina display is immediately noticeable for text.

This. Even using my iPad to ssh into a server using the Prompt app shows the HUGE difference a retina display makes. It's more pleasing on the eyes to use my iPad 3 as a terminal, than even my MacBook Pro's screen.

Anyway, I think the results speak for themselves. We're still at about 86% favorable. And note that's not failure rate, but satisfaction, which is an entirely different metric for which 86% is quite good.

And, probably more realistic than this survey: http://www.thetechblock.com/articles/2012/nearly-98-percent-of-ipad-3-owners-are-satisfied/
