Retina display and please don't change the screen size.
Indeed.
An optically-laminated, Retina Display on this thing would be beyond awesome.
The GPU is probably powerful enough already, so only a CPU/RAM/battery bump should suffice, as I think the form factor is perfect.
Aesthetically, maybe they could make the volume, mute/rotation and sleep/wake buttons metal, like the iPhone.

I want:-

(1)Retina screen
(2)Thinner
(3)Lighter
(4)1gb ram
(5)Better battery

1. Yes
2. Why?! How!? It's SO thin now. Sometimes there is such a thing as TOO thin, IMO.
3. I'm actually quite happy with the weight.
4. Yes. It'd be welcomed.
5. How!? The battery is absolutely stellar on iPad.

I'd like them to drop the numerical naming. It feels immature, and I hate that as soon as the new one comes out people ask "IS THAT THE 3?!" and you say nope it's the 2, and all of a sudden it's frowned upon. I want them to do what they do with the Macs. "The New Macbook..."

They can't go on forever... iPad 73...

After the underwhelming release of the iPhone 4S, my expectations for the iPad 3/2S are quite low. I expect a speedier processor of course, a slight increas in RAM (not 1GB though) and a bump in GPU, Siri maybe, but considering iOS's original voice control application was not made available for the iPad I'm not getting my hopes up; better rear-facing camera, perhaps what's on the iPhone 4 now, 3G with HSPA+, and a Sprint version. I also expect it to be multi-band so there won't be so many different variations like last time and hopefully a 128GB version.

I can't see there being a retina display until iPad 4 maybe.

So basically no major design changes? Just a spec bump?
I think that with the tablet market, design changes are crucial as well as the spec bumps of course. So I believe we'll obviously see some new features and specs, and also a design change whether it be small or big...

If ppl have to ask you which iPad it is then they don't own one so any reaction after that is simply iJealousy ;)

And Apple just call it the iPad (1st, 2nd, 3rd gen etc)

Possibly a new Liquidmetal body which would eliminate the need for the black plastic window on 3G models.

Quad core A6 processor with 1GB RAM and better GPU to drive the new display.

4x-pixel display (Retina I guess, but it won't be the same density as the iPhone 4)

Same battery life.

Not any thinner, really it's thin enough and they'll need a bigger battery.

HD Facetime camera. Don't really care about rear camera, the front is more important for the iPad.

iOS 5.2 with update weather, stocks, and clock apps for the iPad. Weather and stocks aren't so important if they eventually let devs add their own widgets, but a built in alarm clock would be nice.

Siri, optimized for the iPad's screen size.

iPad 2 stays as a production model, WiFi only, black and white, only one storage size for $399.
There is no chance of quad core, when the macbook air and some macbook pros are still dual core. A 500$ tablet will not be more powerful then some of there notebooks.

retina (or even just near-retina level) screen please.

I picked up an ipad1 refurb 3g32 for fairly cheap off the Apple site ................ but having the i4 and i4s screens makes the ipad screen seem cheap by comparison.

Haven't decided yet if I'll keep it lol

Um, it's a quad-core tablet, and if it happens it will likely come with 1GB of RAM, in no way will it be comparable to (or more powerful than) a notebook. It takes more than a quad-core ARM processor to outperform a MacBook.

Why not... ;)

I would still love to see an Ipad Pro with a larger screen (8.5x11) ,more memory, faster cpu and all around souped up performance.I mainly use my Ipads1&2 to compose music with the myriad of amazing music & synthesizer apps and I would gladly pay extra for an Ipad Pro.I cant get over what truly creative devices these things are!

First, let me say up front that I do not own an iPad yet, nor do I own a MacBook Air. You say that you would like a larger iPad Pro. I've always thought that the only difference between the iPad and the MBA is that the latter has a keyboard.

Wouldn't the MacBook Air already be a solution for a larger iPad? I have no desire to own a MacBook Air, but I am interested in an iPad. I am very happy with my 13" MacBook Pro, but an iPad might be good for having a device for checking my e-mail and keeping up with news while traveling.

I don't expect to see a case redesign so I think the changes will be

1.3 mega pixel back camera
1080p recording like Iphone 4S
Siri
A6
Retina display
Garage Band 2

You assume that a quad core low power ARM mobile chip will be more powerful than a dual core Intel i5. The Playstation Vita portable system is on track for release around the same time as the iPad 2 (earlier in Japan I believe) and it carries a quad core ARM processor. I believe that the next generation Tegra chips are quad core as well. As others have said the A6 has been reported to be a quad core processor already several times.

How can you record 1080p (~2 megapixel) video with a 1.3 megapixel camera? :p

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Probable:
A6, RAM bump, unsatisfying camera bump, Siri
Wish list:
Retina, lighter, camera flash
Feared: Siri only

It's fun to speculate but sadly we're probably still quite a long way away from knowing. I looked at the iPad 2 entry on Wikipedia and the iPad 2 dates were:

Invitations go out for media event: Feb 23rd
Media event to announce iPad 2: Mar 2nd
iPad 2 shipped in US: Mar 11th
iPad 2 shipped in additional 25 countries: Mar 25th

Things would never happen on exactly those dates next year of course because for 2012 at least one of them is on a weekend but if history repeats itself and the iPad 3 rollout follows similar timings then we're still 4 months away from invitations going out and about 19 weeks away from knowing the specs (waits like this never sound as long to me when I think of them in weeks).

I like (not love) the iPads 1, and 2, I have now. Used as alternate ways to consume content, they will remain secondary in my arsenal of computing tools. While I would be much more apt to use and enjoy them more, if they could manage Flash, I have no misguided expectations that Apple will ever see the light. Too much negative energy has been expelled by Steve to poison the Apple community against Adobe & Flash. Therefore about the only improvement I'd enjoy would be a higher resolution.

Thickness/weight is OK (wouldn't complain about thinner and/or lighter)
Higher res screen
Siri
Facetime HD

Don't care about the rear camera, take it out & I wouldn't miss it.

"iPad 2S" - Maybe, but I doubt they would use the "S" naming if they change the screen resolution.

Retina display and please don't change the screen size.

This says it all.

Stop innovating.

Stop progressing.

Ignore the trends, the competition, the advances.

We the masses who have no desire to think & grow, are comfortable at this point. Do not confuse us with choices. Please don't make us think for ourselves. This device will suffice, now leave us alone.

New screen (Retina Display)
Siri 2.0
3X Faster (iPad 1)
3X Lighter (iPad 1)
Dual Speakers
New charging system including dual usb connecters for faster charging
Face unlock

4g!

Wow, am I the only one who is holding out for the next iPad SOLELY hoping for 4g?

And then the next game changer for me would be a hinged double iPad that opens like a macbook. I'd pay quite the premium for that! But with one side easily removable to use for reading on only one page. Light enough to hold like an open book. Or to be used like a laptop. Ohh the screen real estate... But by then, hopefully all my favorite Mac software has migrated to IOS so I can ditch the laptop all together.
