I hope its at least a little lighter, Retina display, HD on the FaceTime and Rear Camera, A6 Chip, More RAM.

I'm not really fussed about a redesign, i like the look of the iPad 2, but I'm sure if they do change it it'll still be nice.

but as long as it has a Retina Display i'll probably upgrade from my iPad 1

iPhone2_

Same exact form factor
Better processor
Better cameras with flash
Better display
Siri
NFC
Wireless charging
Particle accelerator

I want:-

Retina screen
Thinner
Lighter
1gb ram
Better battery

There would have to be some seriously powerfull processing power to run a iPad sized retiner screen and also, if they did that, it would be better than HD (which would be pointless)

Depending on the features, I might sell my iPad 2 and get the iPad 3. Hopefully ill only lose 100 bucks, but I would only do it for a retina display, siri, and another feature that Apple thought of that I didn't realize I needed until it was implemented :D

Much better rear camera equal to iphone. My wife and i each have ipad 2 and are camera buffs and have lots if photo apps. Really great.

A little faster.

An included word compatible word processor.

A better keyboard with numbers.

I have not upgrades to ios5 so not sure about it yet.

Of course there will be the obvious spec bump everybody says, but to me, the selling point would be the retina display and/or SD card slot.

Siri will also run on the new iPad.

If they quadruple the pixel count then the A5 already got them over half way there vs the original A4 by more than doubling both CPU and GPU performance. Next year's A6 (or whatever they call it) has a good chance of getting the rest of the way there in terms of performance. I'd suggest that the CPU is there already so it'll be the GPU where it will be interesting to see what happens.

As for better than HD being pointless, it makes a lot of difference for people working with text (spreadsheets, PDF documents, word processing, etc); 300dpi is a good target to aim at there. Apple isn't just aiming the iPad at video users, it is also wants to make the iPad a distribution medium for magazine and newspaper reading and I'm sure Apple also wants to drive it further into professional environments where reading manuals, inventory reports, medical records etc are all text-based activities.

Toshiba has demonstrated a 6.1" 2560 x 1600 display (http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...eates-super-high-res-6-1-inch-display-1035982) so the technology for the panel itself seems to be getting there as well. I'd now put the chances of iPad 3 being 2048 x 1536 (or higher) at better than 65%; I'll be disappointed if it doesn't happen next year. Hopefully panel cost won't delay it for another year because that might still be an issue but with Apple's volumes they could fix that if anyone could, maybe by using some of that cash in the bank to co-fund the production facilities.

Even if someone argues that the current screen is good enough for displaying Latin characters, there is no denying that higher PPI would make a profound difference with Asian characters:

retina display
128gb storage (please)
1gb RAM
2 speakers for better sound
maybe a better battery if they can do that
better cameras (5mp 1080p video would be nice and a 720p hd facetime camera)
same design
4G maybe
glowing apple logo (not needed put it would be awesome)
SIRI
more widecreen?

Accessory's that would be cool
DVD/Blu-Ray drive connecting to 30 pin connector
external hard drive
extended wifi antenna

If these features were included it would smash all other tablets.

I also think that we will likely see the same case with internal upgrades, which is fine because the current model is still one of the lightest and thinnest out there. I would love a new design, but the current iteration doesn't bother me.

In terms of the battery, have we reached a plateau with battery power with the current technology? both the last two versions of iPhones and iPads have basically kept the same statistics interns of battery life. I understand that they have gotten slightly better and you can do more in the same amount of time, but there haven't been any jumps. Whats out there? Just curious...

Also, can someone explain why they use capacitive touch screen that don't allow fine tipped styluses to be used? I would love to take notes on the iPad. Also just curious

Capacitive is generally the best for finger input. It doesn't require any pressure, as a resistive touchscreen would, and it can accurately detect multiple simultaneous touches (though multitouch resistive is not completely non-existant). The drawback is that the nature of this technology makes it sensitive to electrical noise from other electronics around them (including the LCD). To avoid this causing erroneous "touches" traditionally devices using capacitive have been designed to ignore smaller, weaker signals. However fairly recent advances have made it easier to filter out the noise, so a finer point can be accurately detected.

I predict group FaceTime with up to 3 people. A thin line going all the way around the back of the iPad...stereo speakers. A little bit thinner. Retina display. A new color.

An included word compatible word processor

Unless they decide to start pre-installing iWork on new iPads, I'd say the chances of that are pretty slim. Pages is only $10 and if you have use for it then you'll find it easily worth the money.

Based on what info I know now, these are my guesses: :D
- A6 processor (whatever it's specs may be): 100%
- Same design (not thinner, maybe lighter): 95% (This design just works)
- Bluetooth 4.0: 85% (imagine it's possibilities, seeing to what iPad is being used already today in medical industries)
- Retina display: 65% (Since the production problems, it may not appear just yet)
- Better camera/microphone: 60%
- Siri: 50% (Siri IS useful for mobile devices, but I believe it's more useful on iPhones than on iPads ... Who knows, maybe Apple thinks the same about that ;) Maybe not; Siri is a great marketing object for Apple.)
- More RAM (1GB): 40% (iPad2's 512MB does quite a decent job, why would Apple change it? Maybe for more memory intensive games or high end production apps, otherwise it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.)
- More graphical performance: 20% (due to its huge increase with the iPad2, I don't expect any real exciting changes here)
- Smaller version (7")/ "iPad mini": 0% (i would rather see it like a large iPhone rather than a small iPad ...)

Might have missed quite a bit, but it's obviously just a guess ;)

I want it to be so light that it is just a hologram that floats it the air and projects from a lipstick size tube....:p

No, really would be nice to have a better camera.

iPad 3: Retina display; front cam stays same; back cam 5 megapixel like iphone 4; 1 gb ram; 32,64,128 gb storage; a6 quad core; Siri 2.0; ios 5.3; new 3d mapping; better airplay mirroring; more gestures; LTE 2.0

I have an iPad 1, and I'm probably going to upgrade when the iPad 3 comes out. If the iPad 3 doesn't have a better screen or Siri or be like 10x faster, I'll just get a refurbished iPad 2 or possibly even just keep my iPad 1. The iPad 2 doesn't really give me enough added value over the iPad 1, so when I saw the 32GB iPad 1 Wifi (refurbished) for $429, I sold my iPod touch 32GB and spent an extra like $150 to get it. I saved myself like $175 over buying the iPad 2 32GB, so maybe I'll take that route again. :) But if the iPad 3 has the amazing screen (the most important thing to me) then I will upgrade to it. I personally think the iPad 2 is a bit too thin and light for me, so I hope it's not any thinner. (lighter would be okay, but not a dealbreaker at all) Anything else would be icing on the cake. :)

1. add the retina display

2. add a 7.85" model … the ideal size of a paperback novel … offer both sizes like the MacBook Air

3. i'm going to get hate for this, but pixar makes a crap load of great 3D movies, none of which can be seen on an Apple product in their full glory

Some of the expectations I see on this thread is absolutely bogus...

1. Micro SD CARD...?
2. 5 or 8 megapixel camera like iPhone 4 or 4s?

People needs to cash out more money for that.
