my wish list:

edge to edge 2048x1536 display. I need a slightly larger screen than the current one especially with such a high resolution but I still like the current form factor.
Definitely need to be lighter but keep the battery life at least the same. A bonus if it can extend the battery life by couple hours. :)
Faster processor. Would be awesome if loading web pages is just as fast as a desktop computer. :D

LTE is nice if it doesn't affect battery life

Forget an edge to edge screen, it will likely never happen. How would you hold it without accidentally touching the screen and getti g unwanted taps?

would be cool to be able to plug an ipod into the ipad to transfer music. i would love to ditch my macbook and just use an ipad. but then i need something i can jog with … ipod nano.

I want the COD franchise to come to iPad, and be able to use a bluetooth controller to play it.

My wish is that it just get here, as I'm waiting to upgrade from the iPad 1 to go with the new 4s I just got.

I am waiting for ipad3 simply because it will reduce the price of ipad 2.. as simple as that.. :)

I would love to see an upgrade in ram which I am almost sure they will do.I am really anticipating the 3. It is killing me I want an iPad 2, but can't justify buying one now since the 3 is so close. If the rumors are true the price would drop quick on the 2 as soon as we get the 3 and I would feel ripped off. Guess I will just wait it out.

Mark my words: double storage for the same price (so 64 GB for $599 instead of 32 GB for $599). LTE connectivity. No Siri. Higher resolution display. Higher resolution cameras.

Mark my words: 7" inch version.

I've said this since the iPad 1. Steve's dead now. It sounded like his opinion was the only thing keeping Apple from delivering a smaller iPad.

I'm betting a smaller iPad becomes the next iPod Touch.

Do you already see it in your head? Q&A session: "So, mr. Cook, Apple is now going to deliver a 7" iPad? How would Steve have felt about this?" "Steve's dead now. Next question."

What about a screen with a faster refresh rate/more sensitive? I don't have an iPad yet (waiting for the 3/2S?) but when I do get one I was planning on using it as an art tool. But I know through use of my iPhone/using demo iPads that the paint programs aren't super responsive (slight lag between finger swipe and the stroke registering)...

is this due to the screen/processor not being used properly or is it the apps that aren't taking advantage of the iPad? Is it something that Apple would even take into consideration for their next iPad?

3 million retina displays are said to be shipping already QXGA resolution.

My guess is a cheaper ipad 2 to widen the appeal to less cash rich and a iPad 3 with all the bells and whistles.

I sold my ipad 1 after 2 months it was crap the screen sucked and the CPU/GPU and OS version sucked.

Im hoping the iPad 3 is my way back now we have iOS 5 and better everything else

I'm guessing:

iPad 3: 1Ghz quad A6, 1GB RAM, 2048x1536 screen, Facetime HD camera, Siri.

$399 - 16GB iPad 2 WiFi
$499 - 32GB iPad 3 WiFi
$599 - 32GB iPad 3 GSM+CDMA or 64GB iPad 3 WiFi
$699 - 64GB iPad 3 GSM+CDMA or 128GB iPad 3 WiFi
$799 - 128GB iPad 3 GSM+CDMA

So two iPad 2 SKUs remain, 16GB black and white.

iPad 3 gets three sizes times two connection types (no need for separate CDMA and GSM models now that they have the combo chip as used in the 4S) times two colors for a total of 12 iPad 3 SKUs.

Whether the iPad 3 is 16/32/64 or 32/64/128 depends a lot on flash prices. For a while it seemed like flash capacities for the same price were increasing pretty steadily but Apple has stayed at the same capacities for a few years now.

The $399 iPad 2 would sell like hotcakes, but the bump up to the iPad 3 would be very tempting.

If the iPad 3 isn't announced by April and is looking like a summer release, I would guess they were waiting for LTE. I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPhone 5 be the first with LTE and the iPad 4 pick it up later, but it could go either way.

Phone

Am I missing something? How about a phone? The iPad 2 has all that connectivity, but no phone? Do you want to carry around an iPad plus an iPhone? That's the reason I don't own an iPad.

No, don't put the iPad up against your ear, but use an earbud.

Has anyone gotten Skype to work on an iPad?

What you're missing is that the vast majority of the world's population likes phones that are pocketable (or fit into a small purse). The iPad has its uses as do phones. But an iPad-sized phone makes no sense.

I didn't say "everyone," I said "vast majority."
