I have the iPad 1 and Im very happy with it, but wont buy another because the OS is limited.

Therefore, Ill buy a netbook for half the price of the iPad 3 and I will have so much more: Office, eMule, Vuze, jDownloader, multitasking, better web browsing, etc.

Netbooks cost only 200€. Pretty good price.

Theres still not enough difference between iPad 1 and iPad 3, just because iOS 5 is the same on both. Better hardware yes, but what we really need is a more POWERFUL os.

Fully agree.

We could have an iPad8 with the power of a Intel i7 2700K and Nvidea GTX580 all running off a battery but whilst it crippled with iOS what's the point. :(

iOS is supposed to be something simple for a mobile phone on the move to do simple tasks, not for a serious tablet for doing serious tasks.

You want serious tasks? Get a laptop, a netbook or ultrabook or more. The right tool for the right job.

My prediction:

2048 x 1536 display, debuting the A6 processor, TV tuner, Siri, thinner then the iPad 2, LTE option and 1080p FFC. Essentially the iPad 3 will be the iTV except not on a stand.

'simple' is not an antonym for 'serious.'

Another one of these idiotic posts.

Yeah, Apple should have just shoehorned an OS that was never designed for touch (OSX) onto a tablet. I'm sure it would have done wonderfully, just like all the windows based tablets that came before it. I'm really trying hard to figure out in what scenario you'd rather use OSX on a tablet than on any of their other computers, for which it is designed and optimized for. Apple did absolutely the right thing. You'd think after a certain point of ridiculous success, these naysayers would learn to eat crow and shut up, instead of the incessant 'they're doing it wrong, cause I said so' comments like the above. Some people love to bitch and whine without taking a few seconds to think about the implications of what they're advocating. Thank God Apple is run by much smarter people than you.

iOS will obviously keep maturing and becoming more powerful, and this is happening at a rapid pace. You honestly think iOS will be what it is now on 'iPad8'? It was the right strategy using the iPhone as a starting point instead of OSX. OSX would be absolutely a nightmare on a touchscreen. Any sane, rational, objective and reasonable person would understands a lick about technology and usability acknowledges this. Sales and customer satisfaction surveys also back it up. It blows my mind how anyone who's actually used an iPad would still think it should be running OSX.

Tethering?

Will they allow tethering with LTE?

If they did, it might be what finally gets me to buy an iPad. I have an LTE MiFi at the moment, and if I'm going to be saddled with carrying that around...

Funny how people assume the "higher resolution" means 2x resolution doubling (or 4x pixels)... But the rumor doesn't specify that.

I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad 3 has 1600x1200 resolution, or something like that.

Why not? It is absolutely doable. Just because Apple is refusing to do scaling while the rest of the world has been doing it for decades doesn't mean that they won't wise up and actually do it.

Because it's Sunday, and there hasn't been a new rumor in two days for people to talk about on this site. That's how this one has over 400 comments. People just get bored over the weekend.

So true. I love weekends... but I hate seeing the same story posted on Friday at 1:09pm for the entire weekend.

:D

Apple is the leader, not the follower.

Yea, the same leader that copied Android's menu bar.

Apple is guilty of copying one element of Android... the horror.

Now, what was Google doing on January 9, 2007?

Probably scrambling to come up with something... considering it took them another 10 months to unveil their new OS... and a full 20 months to finally see it on a shipping product.

:D

Imagine if antitrust authorities said Google had to scrap Android and create something from scratch that was truly original? That would really leave a huge opening for Windows Phone.

It was nice to see Windows Phone and WebOS at least attempt to make something unique...

To be fair Microsoft copied WebOS multitasking view. Even the live tiles are copying Android widgets, but in a way that's more holistic compared to Android.

It won't happen. The way Apple did it with the iPhone worked very well, and introducing that kind of resolution support would just make one big mess for iOS.

Well maybe not on the first day, they were not sure if it will be successful, but somewhere later they were like, ok we must stop copying them:

and we must start copying them:

Please, please people don't get your hopes so high I want to remind you what happen with the iPhone 4S, when everyone thought it was going to be a iPhone 5 and got mad @ Apple (which was funny :p). So please keep in mind that what you have in your head as an iPad 3 might not been what comes out March.

Agree. It may be iPad 2s or iPad 3.
Just don't do the same as iPod touch.

Wanna see something else that's funny?

This is the new phone Palm announced just 2 days before Apple announced the iPhone. OUCH :D

We'll never know what would have happened if the iPhone had never been released... but I'm pretty sure any of these companies would have had no clue how to do anything different.

uhhhh I don't think its the job of antitrust authorities to care if a product is original or not.
