iPad iPad 4 LTE Shipping & Tracking

A few points

1) I also purchased (and then returned) a 13 in retina macbook pro. Via UPS, it left China on October 24th, hit Alaska on the 25th, Kentucky on the 26th and was in my little town in NH on the 27th. This was standard shipping.

2) I think the expedited shipping that some people were offered after calling Apple was BS. Note nobody was charged for this. I think they basically will already deliver these pretty fast once they do leave.

3) The later ship dates are under-promising so they can over deliver. If they changed the ship date to as early as the 16th then the only thing they did was get rid of the under-promise.

4) I believe they are scanning these in and filling up crates that are waiting and most will go out tonight and a large number tomorrow. Getting a tracking number a few days ago only meant that your IPad was one of the first put into the shipping crates. It wasn't going anywhere till today or tomorrow.

5) I still want a tracking number!
 
Well fedex just updated mine 20mins ago at Guangzhou, China... next flight out of there is in 1hr 20mins, hopefully its just doing a quick layover and flyout to Anchorage right away... *crossing my finger*

Mine recently updated to the same. I think we are on FX16 which is already enroute from AK to Memphis. It may be tomorrow's flight we buddy up on. What State yours headed to?

if you google fx16, it will show that the next flight is at 7.53AM China time 14th November, from Guangzhou to Anchorage... now its 6.44AM on the 14th in china... I'm in Illinois

Mine left China on FX16 headed to AK.

It should hit AK late tonight, on to Memphis by tomorrow early AM. If lucky, that will put it in NC by Friday for delivery. If not lucky, guess it will be Monday.
 
Arrival date slipped...

Over the course of the day it's departed Guangzhou, China BUT the anticipated delivery date has slipped from Friday the 16th to Monday the 19th.

Memphis by tomorrow early means I might get my iPad 4 on Thursday ;-). I'm in Little Rock so anything in Memphis gets to me the next day. I'm guessing it will still be Friday, though. Sure wish I knew where my Mini was.

That's very odd. Mine is on the same course and still shows the 16th. I ordered 2 retina MBPs and a MBA all at separate times and they all showed up a day earlier than FedEx reported so there is certainly hope. My Retinas left the factory, took FX90 from Shanghai to Memphis direct, were turned around on a plane to LA 2 hours later, then drove 2 hours out to my suburb for ~11:30am delivery. Calculating it all out that's ~24hrs from FedEx pickup time at the factory to my door which as far as I'm concerned is amazing logistics by FedEx.

I haven't had any experience with the route our iPads are taking (FX16) but I suspect they make it to Memphis by morning and are flown out to local hubs Wednesday day/evening/night for Thursday delivery. That all hinges on them making it to Memphis by tomorrow AM which FX16 appears to accomplish.

Same as mine.

FDX16 runs I think 5 days a week. The total flight is Chengdu->Guangzhou->Anchorage->Memphis. Usually it leaves Chengdu around 1am local time and arrives in Anchorage just after midnight local time (e.g. the same day). After a 1-2 hour stop it continues on to Memphis arriving around 9-10am. From there whatever it takes to get from Memphis to your local hub. I suspect mine will catch a late flight to LAX for delivery on Thursday or maybe Friday.

Right now FDX16 has about a half hour until it lands. If we all see our status update to arrived in Anchorage and the off to Memphis by morning there's a good chance you'll see delivery before the weekend.

This would be awesome. I live in Oklahoma so hopefully that will give me a for sure chance at a Friday delivery date. :)

Comparing tracking information with known Fedex flights put mine leaving China to AK the same timeframe as FX16. Others on these threads have also shown previous history of flights. Monitoring tracking pages and flights showed correlation between the two.

Mine is now on the way from AK to Memphis b/c the flight info for FX16 matches with my tracking info from Fedex.

Mine should be in Memphis in ~ 5 hours. There is a good chance I will get it Friday though tracking still shows 19th. I hope it updates when it hits Memphis with a newer time.

then Nov 16 (upgraded to next-day shipping)
then by itself it's done the following:

i've already changed my Thanksgiving family travel plans twice now to make sure i am there to receive the iPad since FedEx is notorious for just leaving packages on your door step regardless if a signature is required or not. they did it with my iPhone 4S, then refused to go back to pick it up. it was a miracle no one stole it as it sat there for 2 days.

enough is enough. i've had it. i'm calling up Apple this evening and demanding to cancel my order (even though it says Preparing For Shipping - cannot cancel or modify). what does that accomplish for me, as a customer? nothing except being spiteful. i know it will have no impact on Apple, they won't really care. i'll just do what i should have done - buy an iPad 3 refurb and save $150. they'll still get my money, albeit less of it which is even better for me.

if they had just picked a date and stuck with it, i would be less annoyed. still annoyed that i seem to be behind everyone else here despite me ordering within hours that pre-orders went live, but significantly less annoyed than how i am right now

You are really stressing yourself out. Your call resulted in them changing the dates on you.:rolleyes:
 
Mine has been in chengdu since 11:47 pm on the 12th.... :p

As long as its here by the time I move out of town at the end of the month, I guess I can't complain. I would prefer sooner, and if I die today they will wonder why I hit the FedEx site so many times in the last three days. However; it's a good test of patience.

Not quite.

If I didn't call at all, it would still be Nov 23 which would really royally screw me. I called once to upgrade to next-day shipping (even offered to pay, but they did it for free). After that, all hell has broke lose with the date - it's honestly a moving target for me.

I ordered within hours that pre-orders went live, I don't get why my iPad hasn't shipped yet others who ordered in early November have their iPads already in FedEx's possession

After being stuck in prepared for shipment for 3 days, it finally shipped. Delivery date slated for 11/21. Bummer.
