Makes no sense to release the iPad 5, retina Mini and iPhone 5S all before the holidays. I know Americans love to max out there creditcards just to consume, but the rest of the world mostly likes to spend money they have :)

For the company the bulk of buying is in the holidays anyway. And by shifting them all to the Fall they can keep WWDC in early summer, give folks a good three months to upgrade apps before the Fall launch and have all the hardware refresh with the software that way there's no more of this game of new features that don't work on the current hardware so folks would wait until March/April to buy the new one.

And no more of folks waiting because X cool feature is in the new iPhone and they want to see if its in the iPad.

Advertising for the ipad has kick-started on the tube... Usually an indication of getting rid of stock before a major announcement!

Or a reminder of the product for folks to spend their tax returns on

Most people seem to agree ipad 5 will be released before November but does anyone think they might leave it until later or do you think that's out of the question?

Way too much happened in Q4, that I ultimately became uninterested in the iPad and its family.

Well, they pretty much refreshed their entire product line except Apple TV and Mac Pro in 1 quarter.

I think this year they've put very minor spec upgrades into the MacBook pro and Apple TV, which they haven't bothered to market, and they confirmed an updated Mac Pro for spring.

As long as there isn't a train of releases close together. I.e the same quarter, I should be able to upgrade at least one thing

What do you want to upgrade the most?

My iPad has been one of the most important tools I've used, and by the time I had heard about the iPad mini, I had already spent £530 on the iPhone, and spent sufficient money to think twice (in that quarter). I didn't budget to make two upgrades.

What the hell? This is Apple we're talking about, not Nicholas Cage movies. They aren't just gonna start churning them out of the woodwork like straight to DVD prison fighting movies.

The iPhone is September. It's always been September and it's going to continue to be September. The iPad is around the same time. That's just how it is.

They ticked a lot of people off with the iPad 4 coming out months after the iPad 3. If they drop that bomb again, people will be infuriated.

----------

The biggest hint they've given that an iPad is not just about to release is the iPad 4 128GB they JUST dropped a month ago. Or not even a month ago. After they ramped up production to pump out 128GB models, you think they're just going to switch to the new bezel like that? Highly doubt it.

Yep.....quantity over quality.....innovation is not part of Apple anymore...

I'll have to agree

I'll have to agree with you on this one...

I'm going to assume you are unaware of the existence of southern Europe!

I'm curious. Why do you think they didn't give the ipad 4, the mini form factor? Could it be lack of technology to do so or purely business reasons?

Another "Why do you think" question to those that have no clue. Only Apple knows

I've come to terms with the fact that I'm disappointed with the iPad mini, it cost more than its competitors and is often physically lacking quite significantly. I think I'll sell it to Cash Converters and then go for the iPad 5 as I think I want the bigger screen. I hope we see an iPad 5 in April as I don't want to have to wait until the iPad mini has dropped in value significantly. I.e a December iPad 5 release.

How much would you get for it at cash converters? Why not sell it online?

The iPad 4 wasn't supposed to come out until March/April, one calendar year approximately after the iPad 3. But because of the lightning connector, they decided to put the A6X out, reuse the iPad 3 form factor and screens and just keep the cables consistent. That and the technology to make an iPad as thin as the Mini was likely not ready. The A6X is a powerful chip. Putting it on a smaller motherboard takes time.

They shifted the schedule to put the iPad out later in the year, closer to the holidays and as a result, their sales exploded at least for the Mini.

Well I heard Cash Converters will take them for £150 to £200. Whereas on eBay I'd be lucky to get £150 for it plus eBay and PayPal taking cuts of the final price. Just seems quicker and easier to sell it to Cash Converters. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to selling iPads, it's not as easy as selling your old mobile to Mazuma - although it should be.

Carphone Warehouse will give you over 200 for it. http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/trade-in/order
