The iPad 4 wasn't supposed to come out until March/April, one calendar year approximately after the iPad 3. But because of the lightning connector, they decided to put the A6X out, reuse the iPad 3 form factor and screens and just keep the cables consistent. That and the technology to make an iPad as thin as the Mini was likely not ready. The A6X is a powerful chip. Putting it on a smaller motherboard takes time.

Source?

Anytime after June should we all have our ears perked up and get ready for both the iPhone 5S and the next gen iPad.

But there is no way the iPad 5 is coming out next month.

Just checked on what they take 16GB wifi iPad minis for - £142.55.

I don't think I should accept that as best price. I paid £264 for this three months ago, it's worth at least £175.
Oh, sorry, you're trying to sell a mini. I misread and thought you had a 4.

MY sources tell me we will see:

iPhone 5S: June
iPhone 6: July
iPhone 6S: August
iPhone 7: September
iPhone 7S: October
iPhone 8: November
iPhone 8S: December

There, do I sound more full of it as everyone else now?:)

And what's the difference between them?

Apple works on a cycle when it comes to releasing things. They released the iPad 3 in march, but then they reset the cycle by releasing an iPad4 in November(i think). So we definitely won't see another iPad until around fall sometime. Same thing w/ iPhone 5s

Was bunching everything up in the same quarter really effective though?

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I have a source who lives next to Apple's chief marketing officer, and my source loves to eavesdrop on this guy's phone conversations with one of those umbrella microphone thingies, you know the ones I'm talking about, those things that can hear through brick walls?

Anyways he says that y'all ain't gettin the iPad 5 til December 10, so.......

and I have Tim Cook who lives next to me and told me otherwise.

Who thinks Tim Cook has successfully "doubled down on product secrecy" for release date anyway? For specs and design, there's still leaks everywhere?

Renee Ritchie from iMore.com reported that there would be an updated iPad mini and the iPad 5 at an event next month. He has been spot on with his predictions and seems to have very credible sources. But the lack of park leaks or anything leaves me wondering if it won't really happen until later in the year.

There have supposedly been back case leaks.

I guess that's true. I was jut thinking about the iPhone 5 leaks before it launched. There were tons of part leaks. But I guess we didn't see a lot of the iPad mini before it launched compared to the iPhone 5.

While I'd love to see a new iPad in April, I don't think that's going to be the case. More like June or July this time around.

Aside from better battery life and a lighter profile, I'm not even sure I'm longing for much a new iPad. I do like the 128GB option, but I don't have to wait for an iPad 5 to do that now...

I think it was a bad move... but now they have their new release cycles set so...

Doesn't mean that they have to stick to them.

I'd rather they did the iPads together, and the iPhone and iPod Touch together, but not in the same quarter.
