how does he do that? where did he buy this stuff from? i mean, which supplier (in China) is sitting there to simply leak this stuff out?

how did this happen? :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Gosh relax. There's going to be serious leaks that put this to shame.

There's going to be so many leaks, by the time this is for sale, it will feel like an old friend.

I am going to get slain for this...

But why don't they add a flash to the iPad camera? Now don't get me wrong. I am just as annoyed as the rest of you at the countless number of people busting out their ipads to take photos. It looks ridiculous. It is ridiculous. But, fact is, people are doing it. May as well give them a good experience taking photos, no?

Why do these covers have the metal hinge? I thought they got rid of that with the mini smart covers.

They never changed the full-size Smart Covers to use the fabric hinge, and because of that, I really hope this video is accurate and it means the Mini will be getting metal-hinged Smart Covers in the future. The fabric one just comes off far too easily.

Kill the 3-panel cover, please. I love my 4-panel and I love the smart cover. I usually have it folded in half, whether on my lap or on the table. Good grip, it balances (more or less), smooth side down.

I rarely ever have it in triangle mode, as I find it unstable and the screen-facing side ends up on the outside (why would I want to dirty it and then end up scratching the screen?). I also almost never use it without the cover, as it's hard to hold then, and I don't want to scratch up the back cover. I also hate cases.

I'm not in the market for an iPad anytime soon because my 3rd gen is working perfectly fine. But certainly the decision between a mini and a full-size will be affected by the availability of a good smart cover (Apple or 3rd party). Basically, I consider it a critical part in the "form factor" of the product. It makes it easy to hold and handle.

I thought the main reason the SmartCover for the mini didn't have metal hinges was so it wouldn't scratch the finish, primarily the black. If so, why do these have them? Something doesn't seem to be adding up.

No one is taking notice to all the steps back here? The colors are the original muted colors they got rid of about 1-1.5 years ago. The orange color is there which was also discontinued. The Dark grey which was introd when the orange disappeared is also not present. The inside microfiber is grey and not color matched which they also stopped doing along with the muted colors some time ago. If these are indeed for new then why all the steps backwards? All just seems off to me.

My opinion is the cameras on iPad are used mainly for Facetime, Skype, etc. I have no numbers to back this up but I would guess the majority of iPad owners have iPhones too, or at least other smartphones that have better cameras. I think I've only used the camera on my iPad once, when I was testing it out right out of the box. My point is, I question the value of adding a flash because how many are using iPads as their main camera?

The article title wouldn't have a MS joke in it by any chance, would it? No? Guess I'm too anxious waiting for a confirmed announcement dates on new ipad minis. . .

No.

That would be the retina screen a few years ago. This just removes some of the bezel (finally). Nothing to see here really.
:apple:

The weight loss will be pretty significant to improve the user experience. Retina was indeed a huge step, though, which spoiled me for every "normal" resolution display.

Is it plastic only? Leather, please? And no nursery colours. Love my Navy leather cover. What happened to the darker colours? I hope my only option isn't black.

Still haven't figured out how to include an iPad in my workflow. I think the perfect (yet generalized) Apple trio of devices would be:

  • iMac for the desk
  • MacBook Air 11" for mobile typing, creation and consumption
  • iPhone for light consumption and connectivity out in the wild
The ecosystem is complete.

One could say that the iPad could replace the MBA above but by the time you max out an iPad, buy all the accessories (keyboard, case) you're getting a lot less functionality in the iPad for the same if not more money. Plus, you get the full power of OSX in the Air. And to me... the trackpad and gesture support in Apple's laptops is as close as one can get to a touch screen without being inflicted with "gorilla arm".

Also don't know where to fit the iPad mini in all of this. I've used one and find it's just an odd-ball size and doesn't fit in a pocket. Great for reading ebooks but I can do that quite well on any iPhone with ease.

Over the years, I've seen so many iPads from my work colleagues slowly evolve into what I see as tiny ultra books complete with permanent keyboards and hardshell cases. All with the limitations of iOS (which doesn't always fit well in an Enterprise environment I might add).

Thanks to the iOS support, I've had a very long run with my iPad 2 64gig. Finally, with iOS7, it's starting to feel a little sluggish. Could be time to upgrade.

Same here. iPad5, 128GB, USB3(!!). Waiting impatiently.

Is that really how the iPad mini cover works? With only 3 sections? How do you roll it up to make a triangle for standing/propping up?

That's a fair point. I don't really have numbers either, just that I see people using it all over the place in Boston. Realistically, a rear facing camera is not even necessary if all you are using it for is facetime. It's just as easy to flip the device around, right? Not saying you are wrong, or that I am right, just thinking out loud is all.

There has been a time or two I wished I had the flashlight feature handy though.

I hope this new iPad has touch ID. Would be weird to ship the new high end iPhone with it and iPad without it.

We'll see though!

A7 powered iPad 5, bring it on!

This is Apple's marketing department doing these leaks. They prime people to get their money ready so when they do release they have people ready to spend their money.

Gray insides

The color doesn't go to both sides like it does on the revised SmartCovers. My Green one is green on both sides. Not gray on the inside. Seems odd. Maybe old prototypes or something? Or they went back to the old way of doing SmartCovers. Which would kinda suck.

I always think the exact same thing. Someone is blatantly stealing things from the assembly line and selling them to people like him.

I don't have a use for an iMac. I have 2 rMBPs, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones. If the iPads got phone qualities then I wouldn't actually need the phone. The iPad would be enough.
