That´s all I needed to know, seems like a good buy.
It will take Apple a few more iOS versions before 2GB won't be enough :)

So I guess this thread from yesterday was correct.

In any case, this blows the Tegra K-1 in the Nexus 9 out of the water.

Can you provide a link to the score for that Nexus 9. I'm curious :D

And for all those wanting to see comparison with the iPad Air 1, here it is:

http://browser.primatelabs.com/ios-benchmarks

iPad Air: Single Core = 1472, Multi-Core = 2664

EDIT: Nevermind on the Nexus 9 - found a link: 1903 single core, 3166 multi core.....

Odd core numbers are pretty much non-existent in ARM-world, so this is interesting to see. Triple core also helps explain how they got to 3B transistors. Too bad geekbench doesn't accurately report that "L3" cache.
Well, the iPhone 5 had 3 graphics cores!

I'm wondering, why the sudden need for 2gb of RAM?

The air, aside from safari, is fine with 1gb. I've even multi-tasked on it using os experience and didn't notice any issues running multiple apps at once - sure it's not a reliable thing to go off but still.

My point is - is there something good coming for them to add 2gb? The screen wasn't updated and the iPhones didn't get - I would have thought the plus would have at least.

Then safari - I still don't believe 2gb is going to fix it, especially if it isn't a problem with other browsers and it's happening on other devices. I guess time will tell for this.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, and it was time to finally update - though with the iPad mini and ipad 2 still in the playing field (and mini probably isn't going anywhere next update either) - it's going to be quite a big difference between the two now. Hopefully there is a reason for the 2gb that's going to be exclusive to the air 2 and ipad pro cough split screen cough.

Well... I'm thinking about upgrading the Air now... This looks too good not to... that's one powerfull machine for a thin-ass tablet.

I was planning on this iPad being the one I hold onto for a long while....turns out that'll be a really safe bet.

Can't imagine it being any thinner. More powerful than I'll ever need. I'll be getting a 128GB cellular version so unless they come out with a 512gb version that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'll be buying one and standing pat for a while.

Just looking forward now to some iPad-specific software updates/features. Thinking 8.2 and 8.3 hold some goodies.

Well, didn't they say it had 3 billion transistors?

And they also said the iPhone 6 had 2 billion transistors.

But oddly, they said it was "40% faster" than presumably the A7, but it's actually 55% faster than even the A8 on multicore tests.

I think one reason sales are down is even an ipad as old as the 2 is more than enough for most people
