So it can be used instantly then? Would like to just show up and trade the old one in and pick up the new one all in one shot if possible (assuming mine doesn't sell here on the forums in the marketplace).

You should be able to do it all at once, assuming the store has available inventory.

I bet best buy stores receive their shipment today with iPads for the Friday date. So we might start seeing some get access their their pre order later today.

Just wishful thinking.

my local best buy is showing wifi models in stock, but all cellular models are still showing coming soon. Anyone been able to verify if the stores actually received cellular models or not?

Are you just browsing the store and checking for store availability?

I ordered for delivery last week but it said estimated delivery date was 11/4. So I cancelled it and chose store pickup. I actually ended up saving money because the store in picking up from has a lower tax rate. I should be playing with it by Friday!

I just got back from Best Buy where I traded in my iPad 3rd Generation. They did not have the new iPad 2s in stock yet (or at least, available to be purchased).

After a fairly indifferent inspection he gave me a gift card worth $185 and then a paper coupon worth another $50. When I go to pick up my pre-order (in-store pickup) he said I can use the coupon and gift card then.

Can they be used on anything in the store, or does it have to be for the new iPad?

Thank you

The gift card can be used anywhere - because thats what the normal trade-in value would represent. However, the $50 coupon is specific for the purchase of an iPad and can't be transferred.

So are you saying that when you looked up the trade value online, it told you $185, but then in store you actually got $185 + $50? Online tells me my 4th gen wifi 64 GB is worth $287, so now I'm not sure if that means $287 gift card + $50, or if that means $237 gift card +$50. Can you clarify?

So are they giving that coupon on any trade-in? Even if it falls over the $200?

I have an iPad mini that's valued at $150 ($50 extra coupon would put it at the $200 minimum), and I have an iPad Air that's valued at $250. The limit on the promotion is 2 trade-ins and I'd be trading them both in for the Air 2.

Might just head over there today and check it out.....though I don't want to be without my iPad for very long and my wife's new Mini 2 doesn't come until next Wednesday.

Unfortunately I can't clarify. Frankly, I thought I was just going to get $200 because yes, the value online was just $185. The sales rep seemed surprised as well that it came out to $50. I suppose he could be wrong about it though and it might only be worth $15 when I actually cash it in, but we'll see about that when it happens (the sooner the better).

Thank you

You are most welcome. I'm anxious for them to get the cellular versions in. I used to work at my local store and I'm still good friends with the Apple Rep there. He's supposed to let me know when they get them in and I'll report back here.

After I placed my order with Apple shortly after pre-orders went live I checked out Best Buy's site to see if they had dates listed. When choosing a local store for pickup it mentioned the 23rd as the date it would be available for pickup. That has since changed to the 24th. I wonder if anyone who pre-ordered and it said the 23rd will be getting theirs tomorrow.

From what I've read its either a $25 coupon if you're trading for a mini 3 or a $50 coupon if you're trading for an Air 2. There are no other denominations.

Might just be that any tradein below $200 yields the extra coupon.

Trade in coupon says "in store only" so can someone confirm that the $50 trade in coupon will work when you pre order in the store?

I'm looking at doing the exact same thing. What accessories did they require you trade-in with your ipad? I was hoping to keep my cable/power adapter as a spare, but didn't know if you had to turn it in as well.

Having worked at BestBuy, usually all they require is the tablet itself. They might deduct a little off the tradein but its usually less than what the cable would cost so I always keep mine.

Question on the iPad trade in at Best Buy - the site says you can go to the store and trade in your iPad, but then it says they give you an E-gift card - does this mean you are stuck going back home and ordering online?

I traded in my iPad mini 1 on Sunday at the customer service desk, they handed me a $150 gift card, I walked to the iPad display area and bought a mini 2 and part paid with the gift card they gave me 5 mins before
