Anyone have any luck in NJ today? Couple stores say they might get it tomorrow but for the most part none of them seem to have any idea what's going on, and I did the trade in promotion so I can't preorder (coupon only works in store)

Called my store and they said even though it says ready now, they don't actually have them yet. Said it will be tomorrow.

They say anything about tomorrow being the release day? How did you convince them?

It just arrived at the Warehouse this morning and they had to go get it. They were probably lazy in your case. I didn't even call ahead, I just went straight there. If I did call, they probably would've gave me the same answer they gave you. If it says "ready for pickup", it's definitely in their warehouse.

Just picked it up. I'm in love.

Can I ask where you are? I just called the BB I am supposed to pick it up at, and they gave me some BS answer about how its not ready until tomorrow because they have to "pick it" but they don't have it in stock yet. She blamed it on the website for being confusing. I have no idea what she was talking about - it was the most ridiculous call. Bottom line - I was sent on my way being told that it would be ready tomorrow (friday) despite having texts and the website telling me it was ready for pickup.

Look at my post above.

Im in Hartsdale, New York. Just go straight to the store and they'll get someone to get it from the warehouse in a few minutes, and you'll be good to go.

I'm in New York City, and I pickup in a Brooklyn-based Best Buy. I question whether the warehouse is close enough to be able to get there, pick it, and get it back within minutes. Hours, maybe...but I doubt they'll do that for me. Sigh.

My husband received a text from Best Buy this morning stating that his iPad Air 2 was ready for pick up. We went to the store and it is not there. They did receive some iPads, but no Space Gray in 64gb. They said that when they started scanning a shipment in, the notice automatically went out to everybody that had placed an order for the iPad, pick up in store. There are going to be some disappointed people visiting the store today. They did say they may get another shipment in today or it could be tomorrow, or it could be a few days before it gets here. That is frustrating. Oh, and, although it shows some of the iPad Air cases available for pickup in the store today, the store does not have any in stock, not even in the back, so that is going to be another disappointment.

Two of the salesmen went into the back and searched to see if there were any of the 64gb in Space Gray. They came out with a silver one and said that he could get that one if he wanted to cancel his order and just get that one, but there were no space gray in any configuration on this shipment. So hubby is waiting for a space gray one.

Same happened to me, got the ready for pickup notice, but they don't have them in yet and they even double checked in the back. Can't say that I'm terribly surprised...

Same thing happened to me. I got the text, so I went to my Best Buy (Morgantown, WV). An employee searched the warehouse and spent a good 15-20 minutes running around the store trying to locate my order.

No iPad yet.

At Michigan ave store now. Pick up counter says they aren't here but probably scanned at ohare.

Store manager says they are 2 levels down in warehouse ups just dropped off. She called and asked them to get mine and bring up.

Fail... They brought up a silver one. Say they only have silver. I ordered grey.

so apparently, they also ship out pre-orders from each warehouse, so they ship it tomorrow, and it gets delivered tomorrow.

Interesting.

It annoys me that they advertise their pre-order as "pick up on release day" - but then provide no definition of what "release day" is. To the average consumer, "release day" means the day Apple releases the unit for sale.

If my definition were the one true definition, then I think we'd have a case for a makegood on their behalf - the product was sold as "pick up on launch day" and that is not in fact what has been delivered.

When you preordered it, I agree it probably just says you will be notified when item is available for pickup.

Regradless, the same thing happens with most any preorder at BB BUT there is generally a release date that most folks know of, just like when the IPhones were available for preorder with a generally know release date.

It doesn't matter what Apple does. BB ain't Apple.

They are definitely NOT apple. That much is for sure. But I will say, it specifically said "pickup on release day" once the iPad was in my cart, BEFORE checkout. I think thats BS and misleading.

To be fair, Best Buy has been advertising their release day for the Air 2 as October 24. At this point, anyone who gets an Air 2 from Best Buy before the 24th should consider themselves lucky.

Called the Apple Store in Bellevue, WA about my 64GB Space Grey wifi model. They don't have any in stock, either. He said a lot of these orders just shot through the system and there's no stock for them...

I asked why I got the pick-up email then and he had no idea. Guess I'll wait till tomorrow and see what happens.

How is it BS?

The release date pretty much was known to anyone following these IPads was for Friday. Now that may not be etched in stone as to actually what happens with SOME retailers so while it can be misleading, BB will tell you it was NEVER ANYTHING BUT FRIDAY! Where was it stated otherwise???

If something happened with the pickup notification besides that date, it was an error. Ipads were never intended to be released until Friday by BB. So one can wave that email notification in front of BB all they want but ....

Except, when I ordered on the 17th, the email I got from BBY says the release day is the 23rd.
