iPad iPad Air 2 owners - are you having problems connecting to WiFi? #Wifigate

Me too, I bought the RT-AC68P (seems to be the new revision of the AC68U, with a faster processor and upgraded radio/PA components), available at BB.

So I switched from the Linksys E4200V2 to the Asus, and no longer have the connection issues with the Air 2.
Range and speed are also improved in my home with some other devices.
But next time I will think twice before I upgrade to a new Apple product.
My mother has an Air with iOS7 and I told her to not update the iOS since it works fine so far. I no longer trust their new stuff ...

So the problem is only with Linksys routers?

Yup. I did all my tests with only the device under test connected to the wifi network, and at the same location (right next to the router.)

I've found that power cycling the iPad will help for a short period but the bandwidth will degrade over a period of a couple hours.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 6 on 8.1. My speeds degrade and I have to toggle to other networks to bring the speed up again. And then it degrades again.

This does not happen on my mini 2 nor on the 5s in my possession. Both are on 8.1.

Not sure, some have reported the same issue with other routers, like Netgear.

I have similar issues with DLink routers.

Just to let you know I upgraded to the Asus RT-AC68U last weekend and have been running my Air 2, 6 Plus and 5S perfectly now for a week without any wifi Issues.

These are all on the 5Ghz network and working at full speed.

I've had some issues on my Air 2 - it'll decide to just not load anything for a while whilst simultaneously switching to the slower wifi channel my router kicks out. All for no apparent reason

However my 5S has been doing the same thing so it's probably more a problem with the router and how far away it is in the house than anything else. Who knows

YouTube has been playing up a LOT on my Air 2 though. Loading videos in dodgy quality, stuttering, and flat out not loading at all. Not that I mind really, I mean that'll all be ironed out in a software update I imagine..
I only have a problem with my daughter's Air2, my 6plus is OK, also my wife's iPad 4 4G, so I think my Asus router is not capable of delivering internet in the form the iPad Air2 wants it ....
I'm considering buying the Airport from Apple ;).... Waiting for Black Friday .... :)))

you can always change the router, but lots of people have problems with wifi. i didnt have any problem until ios 8.3/4 and it became worse in ios9. buying a new router wont fix the issue. they broke something when they tried to fix wifi problems earlier...

If replacing the router wasn't a viable solution, no one would have working wifi. The alternative is that some people wither have horrible local interference problems (highly unlikely) or that some people simply don't know how to set up and operate a smart phone (which is probably true but is highly unlikely to be the explanation for this issue). If the phone hardware and OS are all the same, the solution is somewhere else. You can argue that Apple should test the OS with more routers, but the routers are supposed to conform to standards.
