If this is true, looks like the rMini will be the first victim of the iPhone 6+. Apple is known to prefer cannibalizing its own than let a competitor do it for them.

I think the 6+ will cannibalize mini sales, the question is how many?

It still sends me to the rest room to do No. 2, when I ponder that Apple removed anti-glare screens from its entire range. Only about a year ago, the last remaining product to have an anti-gare, paid extra option was the MacBook Pro 15" - and they cut that too.

So Apple think most of us LOVE glare? No, we buy Apple products because the overall sum total of their features are good - but many of us HATE glare.

So now, Apple brings back an anti-glare for the iPad - and they have the temerity, or bloody-minded nerve to think they're bringing in a positive feature for the iPad, when they've deleted it from everywhere else that people are asking for anti-glare screens?

No one is saying EVERYONE wants an anti-glare screen for Macs and iPads, but some of us do. In fact, anti-glare screens are more needed for Macs since they're harder to orientate to see past the glare - whereas iPhone and iPads in the hand can readily be oriented to compensate for glare. It's in Macs that anti-glare screens are needed.

I really have to push this No. 2 out.

If this post is too foul for you, then you've captured a sense of how I feel about Apple on this point.

So basically you have a "glaring" issue with bowel movements?

TMI

Prediction wise, we know theres an event and we know ipads are on the way. We also know Tim spent much of the year bragging about what a big year for new products this would be. What we don't know is if that bigness includes mac, if only because so few mac related rumors have surfaced and this is the last event of the year.

But does it makes sense to release new macs now? Are the chips ready? Are the screens ready? Are current models old enough for replacement (minis sure are)? If most of these are yes, a mostly mac event would be epic.

It won't.

The 6 Plus may be less successful than the 5c. It is too big for an iPhone and too small for a tablet.

There's a huge difference between an 5.5" and 8". Those who want a tablet won't get an iPhone 6 Plus. That's just a phone. and too big at that. it is only 5.5", shouldn't be that big.

For those saying the 6+ eliminates need for iPad Mini, you clearly have never had reason for an iPad.

I will be very surprised if by next year the iPad mini isn't dead. Apple isn't Samsung; they define general buckets for hardware to keep things simple for customers. The iPhone 6 Plus and the iPad mini are too close in terms of feature use-case to justify the costs of keeping both around. Yes, the Plus is a bit smaller, but it's still big enough to do iPad-esque tasks.

So I think by next year we'll have:
* iPod touch (though I question how long this will last)
* iPhone 6c, 6s, 6s Plus
* iPad Air, iPad Pro (still not convinced this is real tho)

The 2nd-gen iPad Air with Touch ID and Apple Pay will be *huge* for POS systems, though without support for Android most businesses might stick with Square.

Maayyyybe. I use my iPad with bluetooth keyboard for some serious productivity. I can't see the 6+ being big enough for full doc editing, spreadsheet manipulation, etc. It barely does a better job reading iBooks. Still have to turn pages relatively quickly vs getting a real page worth of a book. Maybe with some accessories som of the gap can be bridged. Would be good if that's the case

I can guarantee you that the 6 plus will outsell the 5c. You are totally wrong. Once you get used to the 6+ it's a great device. More than just a phone.

Yawn Yawn Yawn.

God I'm worried this is going to be amazingly dull and boring.

Here is the new iPad Air 2

Same case, Same size and shape, same speaker layout.

We added TouchID the phone had over a year ago, it's a bit faster, camera a little better, but not as good as our phones still and we messed with the screen a bit.

show over :(

I want a new tablet, but afraid the above it all this is going to be :(

I so so so hope I'm wrong.

Well I'm still on the iPad 2, so this will be a fantastic upgrade for me and I'm very looking forward for it to be announced. Not everyone upgrades to the latest products every year.

They said the same about the 5.5" iPhone. I guess these sites just get their news from one source, but as we all know, Apple needs more than one source to get all their things done. Maybe some other company is making the iPad Mini and that's why they don't hear about it from that specific source.

Ditto. While I bought a mini for my daughter, I still haven't seen an iPad Air in real time, let alone held one. Closest Apple store is over 200 miles away.

While I love my iPad 2, an Air 2 is very tempting.

If this Air 2 doesnt have 2GB of RAM I do not want it.

Agree 100%

I've been interested in buying an iPad since 2011. Back in 2011 I waited for it to potentially get a Retina Display, which it did in March 2012. In March 2012 I waited because I wanted the front camera to be HD, which it did when the 4th gen. came out in October 2012. But then I wanted to wait until the form factor changed like the mini, which it did in October 2013 with the Air. But then (lol) I wanted to wait for it to get Touch ID, which I think it will in October 2014. The only other thing I want is 2 gigs of ram.

2 gigs of ram would "future proof" the iPad Air 2, but I am not holding my breath considering the A8 chip in the iPhone 6/6+ both have 1 gig of ram. I don't recall ever there being different ram when using the same chip in a iPhone/iPad.

Guess I'll have to wait till 2015 for 2 gigs of ram, but if it somehow happens this year I will purchase a Black iPad Air 2 64 gigs (which will hopefully be $599).

But knowing Apple there's no way the A8 chip is gonna have 2 gigs of ram after seeing the chip on the iPhone 6/6+.

A8, Touch ID, 2 gigs RAM = Take My Money
A8, Touch ID, 1 gig RAM = Kiss my ass, I'll give you my money in 2015 with the A9, Touch ID, 2 gigs RAM lol

Yes, because there are so many things that you can't do with a iPad because it doesn't have enough RAM. What exactly are you trying to do on your iPad that you can't because of RAM limits?

Just wondering they will include NFC in the Air. I suspect not. But who knows there may be other uses for it.

I heard that they will be implementing :apple:Pay into the iPad to be used as a POS device for small businesses
