I just got the Apple iPad Pro smart cover for my iPad Pro 9.7 and I am very disappointed. The Apple smart cover does not fit well. The cover has been cut too large for the iPad and sticks out on one side (the side that opens) with a mildly sharp edge. This protrusion makes the cover uncomfortable to hold when open and prone to false-opens when closed. It fits like a cheap knock off instead of a true Apple product. What is going on Apple? Apple had to know these covers fit poorly. Shame on you. Apple needs to make a cover that fits as well as the cover for the iPad Air 2 (which I also have).

Yup.. Been like this since the mini 4 and 12.9" iPad Pro. Quite disappointing. They don't feel like hey fit well.

Also, compared to previous smart covers, the 'hinge' area on the Smart Cover is wider than previous versions. The cover can slide around pretty easily. I find the keyboard cover to do a better job as a cover sadly.

Honestly I miss the cover of the iPad 2/3/4.

I own a number of Apple products and, like many, have grown accustom to the higher prices for their products especially compared to competitors. That said, however, when I decided to pick up the new iPad Pro 9.7 in the Apple Store today to replace my very aged 3rd generation, I was aghast when I flipped over the retail packaging for Apple's new Pro 9.7 cover to note the price tag. I literally gasped, and said to the kind salesperson, "REALLY?!?". You can appreciate then how, upon attempting to recompose myself, I all but stumbled upon the realization that wouldn't -- forgive me -- even cover the entire device, but instead the back "case" is altogether a separately sold item and even at a more egregious price. Could I afford it? Yeah, but would I? NO WAY! That's just insane for some molded silicone and a magnet. I lauded Apple's return from the brink and their success, but this just cannot stand; not for me. I look forward to 3rd party solutions with same or better quality at a much more reasonable price tag.

What a giant dick move from Apple. Why even stick with the same form factor if you are going to make all the accessories obsolete? They want $150 for a keyboard that isn't nearly as refined as the ones previously available from Logitech or even Belkin. It offers one angle and is cumbersome to fold up. Then another $70 for a case to cover the back?

The Type+ case from Logitech for the Air 2 was $99 and was phenomenally better. It's nearly compatible with the new pro but they moved the magnets on the lower edge so there is no grip and one of the speakers is covered on the top right side. This product launch seems much more poorly planned as there are literally no third party accessories available for the 9.7" Pro. I've been a huge Apple fan for quite some time but there is only so much a chapped ass can take. You would think with their drive to be "green" and "sustainable" they wouldn't be creating so much waste with these outdated accessories. Would be nice to get a slight discount when turning in/ recycling obsolete accessories when you upgrade. Perhaps a perk for customer loyalty.
