That only affects playing music, doesn't help if your playing games

No it doesn't help with games and even so, you shouldn't have to mess with the EQ settings to get it to stop vibrating so badly. What they need to do is add some type of buffer between the screen and the rear of the device or God forbid thicken the thing up a tiny bit. Good luck with that these days!

The Air 3 wil quietly rectify this issue and a few others. No problem waiting. It's only eleven more months now. my Air is working great anyways so I'll just be patient.

You truly are one with the force my young padawan. Strong of will you are. Hmmmmum....

I can agree with this 100%. After playing Real Racing 3 for 15 minutes, putting the iPad down, my right hand is tingling. Lasted about 30 seconds.
I finally caved and went back to the Air 1. I'm someone who has never had a problem with an iPad before, be it screen issues, it getting too hot, etc. but the vibrating is just too much.

One thing I can add to the discussion to anyone trying the Air 2 in the store... it's one thing to feel it for 30secs, and another to hold it in your hand for 10-15mins. You set it down after that time and your hands are tingling.

We'll try again with Air 3... :(

Good lord, have you ever mowed a lawn princesses? Did it cripple your fingers? Did your entire upper torso go numb? To hear you two, and others who posted similar things, you'd think you'd be physically incapable of using an electric toothbrush.

All things being equal (IOW, not giving up the sound quality or lightness), I'd rather it didn't resonate. But it doesn't really bother me. I can understand not caring for it, maybe even finding it a LITTLE distracting... But lets get real here.

You guys make me sound like an :apple:fanboy. lol I like apple, but I have no allegiance to products or companies, and remain skeptical of the overly thin iPhone 6 design.

You guys do as you feel you must, but lets just ease up on the drama. Waiting for, "I have to pop a vicadin when using the Air 2 because of strong vibrations." Perhaps followed by, "Apple got me hooked on painkillers!".

Good times...

Wow. What a mess.

Paragraph 1: Overly dramatize the issue by relating it to unrelated things and name calling.

Paragraph 2: Admit that the issue exists and claim understanding for why it is annoying to some.

Paragraph 3: After defending company, declare no allegiance to company and then make unrelated criticism.

Paragraph 4: Lecture others for being overly dramatic, then make fake overly dramatic comments

Paragraph 5: More unrelated words

First off I have an iPad Air 2 and absolutely love it. Unbelievably fast and light. It does have the vibration, but I rarely listen to music on it and don't play many games for very long.
I will say however that lawns have to be mowed and electric toothbrushes are only used for 2 minutes, but the iPad is a device used for pleasure and if that is ruined by the vibrating for some then that is a legitimate reason to be unhappy with the device and return it. I'm sure those who bought it were excited to get the latest Apple iPad and are disappointed to have this "attribute" ruin it for them. I doubt they are "princesses".

See, it's fun because people are sensitive.

P1: Alex, The question is "what are things that vibrate".
P2: Yep, I even said people should do as they please.
P3: Just preemptively fending off the haters and the fanboys. Doesn't really work though.
P4: It's called mocking. I'm kind of doing it again. :D
P5: It is fun watching people get overly dramatic about sound vibrations. Do I need to add Valium to prescription? ;)

I don't begrudge anyone that isn't happy with any device they own. Too each there own. I just found it a bit much that sound vibrations from an Air 2 speaker were causing hands and fingers to go numb. So the sarcastic comment about lawn mowers and electric toothbrushes wasn't about necessity compared to luxury. It was an honest bewilderment on how one can't handle (pun intended) an Air 2 but accomplishes those common tasks. I'd would have left it alone, and did for those that said as much, if it was just said that one didn't like it to the point they were returning it.

It's obvious: anything that devides the Mac community this severely is bad.

Doesn't matter whether you call it bad product design, it surely is a big distraction from how great the Air 2 is.

Just can't imagine how this got past the development stage, seems like it could have been fixed pretty easily early on.

I pay people to mow my lawn. ;) My butler brushes my teeth, so I don't have to hold the electric toothbrush.

Anything else? Oh.. I'm a prince, not a princess. You're welcome.

Re: the bolded - this is true for a minority of owners. I don't doubt that it really bothers them, but the fact is it doesn't bother most Air 2 owners. Like me. As I've stated earlier, I never would have noticed it were it not for this very thread.

And this answers your final question. The reason it got past development is probably because most testers never noticed it either. If I had been a tester, for example, the device would have sailed through with flying colors.

I got a cheap £8 Apple clone folio case and I can't feel any vibrations now.

Actually, after having a play with it in stores, you can feel the vibrations in the display as well as the chassis. So while a case may dampen the vibrations at the back, when you touch the display you can still feel it.
That may take away from the user experience for some.

Although, it does open up new possibilities for gaming and haptic feedback. :) Touch an object in a game or in an animated web page and actually feel it vibrate on the display. Now that would be cool. :D

Never posted in this thread since this is not an issue for me (I do notice it). I upated my Air 2 to 8.1.1. Is it just me or does it seem the sound has been toned down a bit and the vibration is not as strong? And it *seems* to sound a bit more harsh, can't say for sure since I can't do a side by side comparison..

To all the idiots who are trying to make fun of the people who have this problem please ****.

I own several Apple devices and have owned all version of iPads and iPhones so this was the first one that vibrated. I own a 6+ and 6 and don't complain about either. About the vibration, at first I though not a big deal these guys are probably blasting the music. The fact is that when listening to music or the background noise in a game at LOW LEVEL is vibrates. My fingers would start to tingle and the ends feel numb after just 5 mins of use. I called AppleCare and they suggested I go to the store. The Genius said he hadn't officially seen or heard about any issues but had a couple of people complain about it. Upon testing mine He and the guy next to him were impressed by the amount of vibration it was making. He remarked that "Its not normal" and replaced it.

We opened the new one up and I set it up...

NO VIBRATION AT LOW LEVEL now. The only time it vibrates is with the volume almost maxed out and even then its a different type of vibration. I used it last night and no problems with my fingertips.

Seriously all the people bashing others you guys are morons. If you are having vibration issues take it to the Apple Store and they will replace it. NOW I'm really happy with the Air 2

Now THIS is good news--actual confirmation that not all air 2 models are afflicted by this issue!

Thanks for posting!

Geesh, I hope that's the case. It might rekindle my interest in the Air 2. The problem of course is how the heck do we know which ones will do it or not? I'm too lazy to get on some buy & exchange binge. I suppose I could always try one out and see but that sounds iffy.

I'm on my fourth one, and still the same problem as the first.

Nevermind. I'm done caring. Sticking with my trusty Air and will just wait until the next ipad is released to see what happens. They'll do something about this though, for sure.

What a stupid issue to have to deal with. Can't believe no one at Apple diacovered this. Oh well. That's life.

I know, right? And, I aint no padawan. Im Yoda. The Avatar should have given it away. :)

Not until you conquer your fear of the iPad air 2 sound vibrations will your training will be complete. Much to learn you have in the ways of the new iPad air. Hurmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

agreed. Mine does vibrate but so far it does not bother me ....but...I have only had it one full day.

Was it updated to 8.1.1?

What color and storage size?

Of course the above may not have any bearing on other Air 2s but at least we may be able to get started somewhere.

And no I would not want to do the trade in game. I know from some prior posts back when that it could get one banished from the particular retailer.

Alright, we have 203,987 with vibration and 1 without it. Time to start hunting for unicorns.

Yeah, but 11 months is a long time with an iPad 3. :(
