So basically the only thing better about the iPad Pro now is the Pencil Support (which may change) and the screen size? Great.

People who are excited about getting four speakers on the Air should ask themselves if they wanna do a trade of between sound and weight and bulk.

Yes. I still have a ipad 4 so I'm sure it would still be lighter. 1 speaker gets kinda annoying when you listen to Dota 2 streams so much.

That's why I didn't really see the point of the iPad Pro. I was hoping they would just add 4 GB of memory to the iPad Air, and eventually incorporate pencil support. (4 speakers I could take or leave). And it was inevitable that the iPad Air would eventually get the same processor.

If this gets Apple Pencil then I'm queueing up a week before hand for it! I'll even let my beloved iPad Mini 4 go for it...

Maybe they'll call it the iPad Air Pro?

lol ! We are in 2016 not 2012 and the benchmark for us should be the Air 2 and it's thickness and weight not iPad 4's weight and thickness.

I am currently seriously thinking about an iPad Pro, and mainly for the wacom like drawing that can be done on it… Any help is appreciated :D
I think the chance the Air 3 will be pencil compatible is close to zero. The chance that it will have pencil support at it's current price point is absolutely zero. But should that be the case, I would regret it. The bigger canvas is certainly advantageous with drawing, but smaller, lighter and cheaper are also things I highly value in Apple products. Be aware the iPad Pro is more of a "sit at the table" than "sit on the couch" tablet. But since you say about yourself, you care most about the wacom like drawing, you most definitely are an iPad Pro person. Go buy it now!

This is it. Computers are turning into gorilla arm input.

That's always been a stupid criticism. I've been using touchscreen laptops since Windows 8 came out in 2012. I do still use the trackpad most of the time, but a touchscreen is often quite convenient and not uncomfortable to use.

The benchmark is what each person makes of it. Nothing more. Not everyone has the latest model every year so just comparing it to that would be silly. Also thinner and thinner each year isn't good either. Rather see more focus on other aspects.

Although this is good to see iPad Air getting some good features, I could never downgrade from the iPad Pro. It truly is the best apple device I have ever owned.

Size makes all the difference.

I just care for RAM really. As long as there's more than 2GB it's a winner for me. There's never too many RAM.

RAM will determine how multitasking will behave

Ok, I'm assuming "English 2nd language", but still...
Better run that post by a buddy - it makes negative sense.
It's kinda just stringing together words with no point whatsoever.

As the proud owner of a Surface Pro 3, I am considering an iPad as my next purchase to complete my Apple ecosystem. Its that I am torn between the Air (small screen) and the iPad Pro (too many compromises and price). I don't want to buy an Air just to downgrade at the same time, its a comfortable size.

Doesn't Apple normally put the Flash on the side and not the bottom? I don't think this is a final design.

This is the first iPad that I've been really interested in since the introduction of the iPad Mini (okay, the original Air was pretty cool, too). In a couple of years when it's time to sell my MacBook maybe I'll make the leap over to one Mac at home for the whole family, and an iPad for my own daily use (versus the laptop). This looks like it could be a really great iteration!

So it's basically a small iPad Pro. I wonder if it'll support the Pencil. That'll be one way to make me regret my Pro purchase.

I doubt it. They'll need something to bring people to the Pro level. I could see Apple making the argument that if you want to draw/write, you'll need the bigger footprint of the Pro.

I'll upgrade to the Air 3 only if someone buys my Air 2 64GB for $499 on Craigslist lol.

There's no surprise that Apple would bring the Air up to par with the Pro spec-wise. Now I can only hope for the Mini to get the same treatment this fall! Probably 2017 at earliest, though.

Then you are using it wrong.

Seriously, if you are playing music loud enough to cause "unbearable speaker vibrations", which are most likely sound distortion by playing music at a level, or sound equaliser setting beyond the iPads audio remit, you need to listen through an appropriate sound source.

Yeah, I've played plenty of audio at full volume on the iPad Air 2 and never experienced distortion if the audio is properly mixed. You do feel the sound vibrations a bit more when holding sometimes, but it's nothing major and doesn't distort the sound. I personally preferred the Air 1's speakers when listening to (or working with) music, but the Air 2 is a bit louder and has fuller sound that works well for video watching.

I like my iPad Pro way more than my Surface Pro 3. I have the i5/8GB/256GB model and it's pretty much collecting dust now. I power it up every few weeks to keep Windows 10 updated but otherwise it gets almost no use.
