But seriously guys are you guys ok if the new iPad Air 3 will bring the much awaited pencil support (as if some people were gonna die without that !) If it brings pencil support but is slightly thicker than the iPad Air-2 ? Apple first and foremost should keep the form and weight in foreground and then think about new features around it not the other way around !
Yes, I'd be absolutely delighted if the Air 3 comes in thicker and heavier IF it supports the Pencil and IF it results in longer battery life and IF it addresses the vibration issue. I'm currently using an Air 2 which is fine. But I don't enjoy the chassis vibration caused by audio and battery life that is less than my iPad 4.

I'd have the Air 3 in the same thickness/weight of my iPad 2 if it meant better battery :)

battery life that is less than my iPad 4.

I feel that the Air and Air 2's battery life can not match the battery life of the iPad 2 and 4. Just out of personal experience.

Exactly my point, the iPad Air-3 atleast should be the same weight and thinkness as the iPad Air-2 if not thinner or thicker than the iPad Air-2

Any thickness added would be due to the screen. To add Pencil support it requires a different, thicker screen than the Air 2.

I doubt you'll fully get rid of the vibrations. The 4 speakers will probably help, but the iPad Pro vibrates some of you crank up the volume. Even an iPhone will vibrate some. It's pretty much unavailable.

I wouldn't be surprised if the weight remains unchanged. A four speaker design might be an indicator that there's less battery, which would reduce weight. Then, introducing one of the controllers to manage the screen refresh rate would help conserve battery, which could make up for the smaller battery.

With both of those changes, the weight and battery life may remain unchanged, yet it's just a wee bit thicker and has Pencil support.

Here's to hoping!

Spoken like a Johnny Ivy Team Member or perhaps himself. :D
[doublepost=1457851537][/doublepost]But no seriously guys I would love to see a weight comparison video made by someone after it does get released.

i already have a working pen with air2. pencil53 can do all i need to do with a pen and a ipad. i can sketch, draw and even write. it is accurate enough.

hence considering to have a tablet thicker and heavier to have the same already having? nope. definitely waiting for air4 or whatever. i dont see any reason to replace my air2 except if air3 has better os than crappy ios9.x

This thread doesn't make sense anymore, it's pure speculation and I'm not even sure OP make a difference between "thickness" and "weight".

I don't think it will be a big deal if it is slightly thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2. Maybe along the lines of the iPad 2 -> iPad 3 or iPhone 6 -> iPhone 6s. Most people can't tell the difference when holding them. I can but doesn't bother me. I can even tell the difference between my 16gb iPhone 6 (work) and my 64gb iPhone 6 (personal), but again it doesn't bother me.

Sorry, but this thread NEVER made sense. From the beginning this thread...

Ok so first things first lets get this straight, what do you guys suggest I should I do in a situation like this, firstly I don't need a Pencil I mean don't foresee any such compelling need and use of the pencil. So if that is my situation. But having a new iPad announced obvious decision would be to go for what is available the latest not a generation behind, but if the iPad Air-3 is 0.05 MM thicker and 1 CM wider or whatever that is, than the iPad Air-2, so would you guys suggest should I take the iPad Air-2 ?? Or like the common sense suggests go for what is available as the latest ?

I don't think most of us really care what you wind up getting.

I will say this however...I don't see you buying the Air2 at this late stage. If you do, it would be ironic.

i suggest you buy a potato.

If it is the same price (base model starts at $500), I'd go for the new iPad, because it's the latest. If the price increases for Pencil support, I'd go for the Air2 because you shouldn't pay for a feature you don't use.

Like that reply, good way of seeing things !

"Pro" is always heavy because Apple put the best hardwares into Pro tablets. If you want light iPad then Apple got a surprise for you is a new Apple iPad Mini Pro.

Nah never liked the Mini, mini line up is too small for me 9.7" inch is just the perfect size for me just the sweet spot.

I don't think it would be much of a big deal, the first generation iPad Air is already very thin and light for most people.

Correct - if anything the Air 2 was too thin and chintzy. Thats what caused the vibration problem and various other stuff. Make the Air 3 a tad beefier and Im in. 4 speakers, better rigidity and isnt like we are talking lbs here folks. Maybe a few mm thicker and a few grams "heavier". Not a big deal. ;)

I seem to be the only one who doesn't want a thicker or heavier iPad. My iPad Air 2 is amazing the way it is. I would even like it to be a tad thinner and lighter. The speaker vibration doesn't bother me. I also get about the same battery life on my iPad Air 2 as my old iPad 3. Standby time isn't quite as good since the battery on the 3 is like twice the size of the Air 2, but I don't let my iPad sit for weeks at a time anyway.

As long as I'm getting 10+ hours SOT, I don't need or want a bigger, heavier, thicker battery. Phones are different, because they're already so small and light that a little thicker and heavier wouldn't make it feel too big or heavy, and they also don't get near iPad-level battery life as it is.

I'm still constantly and completely amazed when I pick up my iPad because of how thin and light it is, even after owning it for over a year. I don't want it to lose that magic.
