I just got mine today and I can safely say this is without a doubt perfect in every way.

I owned this case on the iPad mini and iPad 3rd gen so I knew what to expect coming into this one but its 6 stand mode, ability to hold it's stands in a lap environment or while in bed is a big plus. I also like that its slim and pretty lightweight.

If you have questions let me know.

That's good to hear! I should have mine by Tuesday.

I had one on my 4th gen. Where did you buy from?

I got mine from Amazon.

How about these?

If you'll indulge a bit of self-promotion, I'd like to add my handmade covers to your roundup :)

Simple brown leather smart cover

Doctor Who: River Song's Journal

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (hand-stitched "bookbound" edition)

Game of Thrones: House Stark (hand-stitched "bookbound" edition)

Game of Thrones: House Targaryen (hand-stitched "bookbound" edition)

I've taken the proper measurements and tested my covers with many iPad Airs, and the sleep-wake function works perfectly. The weight of my covers is slightly less than the official Apple covers, though I don't have precise numbers.

They won't compete with all the cheap options, or the ones that fold up as a stand, but that's fine. They're 100% handmade from genuine leather by this guy right here. Guaranteed to turn heads. And I'll have matching back covers to go with them soon. Hope you like.

Wow you haven't even opened it yet. I told myself I wouldn't until my case arrived but there was too much temptation. Although the cover arrived a day later anyway.

I'm waiting for the Smart Cover as well as a screen protector to arrive. The screen protector is more important and as soon as that arrives I'll open the box. I don't want to start using the iPad until the screen protector is on. Besides I've got my iPad 3 to tie me over until then. I, hoping they will be here by early next week.

Anyone find a gel/TPU type back cover that fits well, has good grip, and is NOT! Smart Cover compatible?

I bought one on Amazon for $10 and the fit is horrible, very sloppy.

Here's one from Amazon from a great company. I have it. Just don't have the iPad Air yet.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

I prefer something smooth but will keep this in mind.

Eww, a screen protector with an iPad. Unnecessary. A Smart Cover will protect the screen fine. Unless you plan on dragging it behind you on a lead when you go out.

That looks heavy

Not really. .64 oz. I have used the version for the iPad 2-3 on my iPads and my husband's for a couple of years. His quite literally goes around the world every 3 months. While I travel a lot too, just here at home I have dropped mine on the patio (was bending over so it was only about a foot), my cat has tramped all over it, and my granddaughter (she was 4 at the time) not only dropped it but then walked on it. Now she probably only weighed about 25lbs at the time but the iPad came through it all unscathed.

I've probably been through 15 different cases/sleeves since my iPad 1 (including Apple's first case and then the Smart Cover) and this is by far my favorite. Very light, easy to hold, stands up well (with the built-in stand for the plane) and easy to snap out the iPad when I don't want to hold it in the case,

I loved the original and I expect I'll love this one too.

Forgot to add, on the way home from Vegas last week I still had my iPad 3 and we hit turbulence. The guy next to me spilt his drink all over me and the iPad. Luckily I had just closed it up so his drink just hit the case. All I had to do when things calmed down was go to the lav and take a wet towel and wipe the sticky off. Wish my blouse and pants had cleaned up as easily.

Screen protectors can help protect the screen against shattering in some cases. I don't use them myself, but I put them on my son's and wife's iPads. Just in case.

I prefer to feel the glass.

I disagree. I'm very careful with my devices and take great care of them but you can never be too carenl. Its mainly for peace of mind and because I tend to upgrade every year so I want it to be in as saleable a condition as possible. It not question of whether its necessary or not. A Smart Cover on its own isn't neccessarily going to do the job. Accidents can and do happen no matter how careful one is. So far I've been lucky with my display based gadgets but I'm not going to take a chance. At the end of the day screen protectors don't cause a detriment to the user experience.

I completely agree. I gave up on screen protectors many years ago. Useless IMO.

I bought a black smart cover and this. I'll report back once i receive it.

In my opinion they aren't useless and can help keep the screen in pristine condition. I tend to upgrade every year and sell mine to subsidise the cost of the new one so it helps if its in the best saleable condition.

I never used screen protectors and I've never had a scratch on any of my iDevices. So you really don't need them. Also, the screen responds better without the mostly ugly looking protectors and the naked glass surface is nicer to look at than a plastic surface.

The only way I would think of a protector is if I would use my iPad in public all the time and my work would want me to use a privacy filter to reduce the viewing angle.

Just because you don't use them and have never needed one doesn't mean its not worth having one. Also I don't know what screen protectors you've been using but the ones I've used have no detrimental issues regarding the usability of the touch screen. You can go ahead and not use a screen protector. That's your choice but that doesn't mean everyone else has to follow suit. You've obviously been lucky so far but you won't have the same opinion if something does happen to your screen.

Hey all

I have had real issues selecting a case

Went to PC world and got a folio for £19 but I HATED it and took it back

It takes one of the biggest benefits if the ipad air and makes it 3x thicker

I then realised that I didn't want a case and wanted a sleeve

I went to the apple store and went with this one

It was £24 but the front is well protected and it's easy to access the ipad

It's a very sung fit for the air

That looks like what I'm looking for. Just to clarify, its an ipad mini case, but it fits the air perfectly?

Joy Factory

]I'm getting this. Hope it's as nice and thin as it looks in pic.
