Yes, but even the Hamburg is only around 6.4 ounces or 180g (iPad 3/4). That's still the lightest case I found that offers multiple stable viewing angles. All those folio cases without grooves are fine if you only use them on a table, but are too unstable to use in bed/couch/lap. Same goes for the Moshi case. Next best stable folio in regards to weight seems to be the Devicewear Ridge with a hardshell back cover but it's 50% heavier but also offers some drop protection.

Personally I like the fact that the Kavaj cases cover part of the front, since that makes it easier to grip the iPad. And the iPad fits even with one of the thicker skins like sticker boy.

Anyone know if the Devicewear Ridge works with thicker skins (e.g. sticker boy's Easy Extreme Fit skins)?

Are you referring to the leather frame on the inside? I hope it's more minimalist on the Air since there is less actual frame on the Air itself.

Just slipped on my Devicewear Ridge. Initial impressions:

...However, I did notice that the front flap gets a bit warped after being in this position, I hope it stands up to extended use.
That'll be a problem... any long time users care to comment?

I'm referring to the leather that covers the frame on all sides (where your thumbs rest).

You can look at the iPad Mini cases for comparison (but the iPad Air's frame is a bit bigger, so there's more space).

I don't like those borders that get in the of the screen, all you're asking for is stuff to get caught between that and your device as it scratches it all up.

I am waiting for iSkin to release their new cases

iskin exo for iphone 5s is wonderful. and also last year folio for iPad mini was really good and very light!

Agree for back in general, but as for front as your referring to, I always put a Zagg HD on my devices so no worries. Still feels slick as glass and screen stays perfect no matter what my kids do.

- Its got a really strong "made in china" smell. Not a real con but always irks me regardless.

The switcheasy canvas might be a tad heavier and more expensive, but my canvas for the mini didn't have that smell. I was told my a devicewear rep that the case is pure synthetic materials, while the Switcheasy rep told me their Canvas actually has some canvas. I would bet that if devicewear is using Vinyl (maybe PVC....ewww and unsafe) that may cause the smell?

Belkin Freestyle

Important information:

I just got off the phone with Belkin.

They know the Freestyle for the iPad Air does not activate the wake/sleep feature when opened. They had the cases made on the gamble that the magnets would remain in the same place.

They did not, and Belkin decided to ship them out anyway to see how many might stay sold.

Scummy.

Belkin indicated that in early December a corrected case would be available.

They suggested folks return the current case if they are not happy and wait as they would not provide a swap out in December.

Hopefully, this post will prevent some of you from wasting their time until December.

They did not indicate how the consumer would know in December, so I recommend if you are interested to call them before buying.

Spread the word.

The magnet designer at Apple must be having fun moving the magnet around on each iPad model and then watching the case manufacturers get tripped up.

My Devicewear Ridge had a slight odor when I first opened the package, but it stopped after a day. Not a big deal. I've really been enjoying it. Someone else asked about the durability of the typing position. The Metagamers review mentions that previous versions of the Ridge have proven quite durable; but, really, no one has had this version long enough to know about durability issues.

Got the Mofred case off Amazon. Fantastic case. Looks and feels great. And for £1.99 you can't go wrong. £1.99 and also includes a screen protector. £1.99!!!

I am going for this one from Etsy + smart cover + BSE matte skin in order to retain maximum thinness.....

That's annoying because every swipe is hindered by the edge of the case. Not hindered as in blocked, but you'll def notice ur thumb hitting it every time.

Especially with ios7s new gestures.

Valid point. But that's never bothered me. But I also use an iPhone case with "lay on the table" design. Well, to each his own. It's great that we have this many choices. One of the benefits of Apple's product release cycle with just one new model every year in each category.

Which one will you be going with instead?
I currently have the Bear Motion 100% leather case which is extremely comfortable to hold but still a little on the heavy side. I will be keeping it though.

I also have two others on order which I'll try and review when I receive them.
They are the rooCASE Origami SlimShell and the Lioncase Folio Shield which I ordered direct.

It shipped a couple of days ago so I'm assuming middle to late next week.

Their keyboard case looks pretty sweet. I've had a Bear Motion Folio on about every iPad I've owned including the Air. The only thing I don't particularly like on the new one are the credit card slots on the inside cover.
