Waiting 3-4 weeks after launch to recoup $ spent and test them in store. If they have the 2gb RAM, retina 'hd' screen and are a bit lighter, yeah, I'll get one.

Just hope my 2010 iMac holds out until April next year.

Supposedly some really cool new Mac news will be announced at the Keynote as well!

No idea because only Apple knows what will be introduced.

I want to know what's being offered, what cellular models are available, the specs and the price. Then I'll decide.

Pretty sure all the details are pretty much leaked ;)

Indeed, which I am more excited about...just hope this current machine holds out until I can afford one of the new Macs announced next week. :D

I cannot buy both at this time so...

I for one am excited for the new iMacs. Must add that to my list of Apple arsenal :p

Do it! Go in debt! It's worth it...

:p Jk! I'm excited that Apple is keeping Macs fresh. We all know desktop PCs aren't doing that great..

I was a bit foolish in thinking Apple was different and that they would only release products that just work. Apparently not and my future purchasing habits will reflect that..

To be fair, it's sort of hard to know these kinds of failures until they're in the wild. That's just the nature of the beast; it's not Apple's fault necessarily. Again, that's why I don't understand the rush to be the first adopters. Usually those people get screwed over the worst and/or have the worst luck when it comes to the products they receive.

I waited this long to buy because when the first Airs and Retina Minis were released, I knew that they would probably iron out bugs/upgrade to proper hardware on the up coming new iPads, especially with 8.1 coming.

I could stay for another year on my iPad 4 but after upgrading to 8.0.2, I notice some lagging effect in the GUI and Safari.

There is a difference between waiting one or two months after the device is released and simply holding off altogether. It's not a binary decision of "buy product on day one or buy next product on its day one". You can and often should wait for things to be ironed out. I bought my iPad Air in January, two and a half months after last October's announcement. That was enough time to assure that any early problems were addressed and worked out, which is fine. I'll be doing the same for this year's iPad mini as well as the iPad Air I buy however many years from now to replace the one I bought in January.

I agree. I just remember the days where your Nokia phone worked like a beast from the second you bought it till it died many many years later or you decided to upgrade.

I also remember buying video games from the store and coming home playing them. Now the second I get home I have to download some type of update. Or in cases like Sim City last year, I had to wait 2 weeks before it was playable due to the servers.

**** just used to work out of the box..

I'm not buying until I know it has 2GB of RAM. I don't care if you think it's related to the tab reloading or not. I can see from Xcode that iOS7/8 can use a lot of RAM and buying a 1GB of RAM iOS device is not going to get many updates before being discontinued.

I really feel the iPad Air is like the iPad 1, and will only get a few iOS updates, then a 2GB of RAM model would be like the iPad to and just keep going and going.

Didn't you make a thread saying 1GB is enough?

LOL. As a long time Mac user I am excited too. :apple:

back on topic,

Hope the iPad Air 2 does have HD screens and 2gb of RAM. And if they're lighter too, great. The screen and more RAM have to exist for me to buy.

I think with recent leaks you're going to get both of those!

I think they have something special for this upgrade up there sleeve beyond what we already know, so I'm in.

Better 8MP rear camera.
Slight thinner.
Better battery life.
Lighter.
A8 Processor
2 GB Ram
HD Retina Display
Touch ID

Not to shabby of an upgrade.

I get a 64GB Air 2. My 32GB Air goes to wife. Her 128GB iPad 2 goes to daughter, daughters 16 GB iPad 2 retired.

128GB iPad 2? That product doesn't exist.

Here's the thing guys and I think you can see my point after I make it. There's bound to be problems with every iteration of phone regardless of when you get it. For example, the iPhone 5 had issues with battery and whatever else that they had started a replacement program for it (I believe it was power button).

Also for me, I'm the type of person that keeps his products and run them to the ground till they no longer work. My iPad 2 I sold earlier this year because iOS 7 just sucked on it and tbh it lasted me 3 years.

Reason I'm not worried about "faults" is because of 2 reasons:
1) IF there is a problem I will get it replaced by Apple
2) There's hasn't been a time yet that Apple has dissapointed me with their customer service so I have faith that regardless of what "problems" are there with the iPad Air 2, I'll get it fixed/solved.

Also I think I'm just excited because I really miss my iPad for work! Don't lug around my laptop.

man, there is no Iris Pro in 13inch macbook - hope i did not ruin your day:)

How many of you here are going to get the iPad Air 2 or Retina Mini 2 on launch day? What size?

I'm interested in the new mini if they make it lighter and keep it in line with the Air 2 specs. I have been thinking of launch day, but not having a case to put it in gives me pause. So has reading this thread with people saying that it is better to wait...

Same here, though I am perfectly fine with not using a case as I did with my iPad 4.
;)

About the waiting thing...

When does the extended Holiday return period start? That is when I'll pick mine up. :)

I agree. Keeping items until they no longer work is sound in many ways (doing that with my 2010 iMac.) And your reasoning about 'faults' is sound. If there's a problem, exchange or return. I'm not worried about the iPad I eventually purchase.
