I'm interested in the new mini if they make it lighter and keep it in line with the Air 2 specs. I have been thinking of launch day, but not having a case to put it in gives me pause. So has reading this thread with people saying that it is better to wait...

Are Apple cases not good enough? :p

I agree. Keeping items until they no longer work is sound in many ways (doing that with my 2010 iMac.) And your reasoning about 'faults' is sound. If there's a problem, exchange or return. I'm not worried about the iPad I eventually purchase.

Exactly. I mean even after the 'problems' are fixed they still end up recalling products (i.e. Power button/battery for iPhone about 1-1.5 years after launch). So use early adopters may be exposed to faults but in the long run everyone is equally as 'screwed'

Also looks like the results are about 50/50. Half the people will buy at launch while the rest will wait and buy later or skip this generation overall. Keep voting guys!

Do it! Go in debt! It's worth it...

:p Jk! I'm excited that Apple is keeping Macs fresh. We all know desktop PCs aren't doing that great..

Sold my trusty Mac mini on eBay as soon as the nMP came out. Took a while to track one down but no regrets. Expensive for sure but worth every penny, what a beautiful beast. No going back to anything else. Wife not too happy at the time must admit! Didn't need the power of the nMP but who cares.
If you love Apple kit as I do then buy what you can afford.
There is no greater pleasure than taking the new box home from the Apple store or getting delivery from UPS and then unboxing the new whatever slowly. Sad but very pleasurable. The wife fails to understand any of this, no surprise there!

Some people just don't get it :p

My husband has my old iPad 2 and wants an upgrade to my 4th generation retina iPad. I'm out of space with the 16GB and have to constantly delete apps to free up space. I cannot upgrade to iOS 8 because of space.

I'm still deciding whether to get the new iPad Air and give hubby my old one, or to keep it and he can just get a refurbished iPad like mine. I will watch the event, then decide.

Im getting 2 iPad Airs 128gb one black and silver. Hopefully I can just walk in and get them.

Unless there is some amazing upgrade to the Retina iPad Mini that none of us have been able to predict, I'm fully planning on keeping my current iPad Retina Mini. Touch ID, thinner/lighter, faster, more RAM, and other spec upgrades are not enough when the Retina Mini is already so fast (and I got it for such a great price just a month ago).

Here's the thing guys and I think you can see my point after I make it. There's bound to be problems with every iteration of phone regardless of when you get it. For example, the iPhone 5 had issues with battery and whatever else that they had started a replacement program for it (I believe it was power button).

Also for me, I'm the type of person that keeps his products and run them to the ground till they no longer work. My iPad 2 I sold earlier this year because iOS 7 just sucked on it and tbh it lasted me 3 years.

Reason I'm not worried about "faults" is because of 2 reasons:
1) IF there is a problem I will get it replaced by Apple
2) There's hasn't been a time yet that Apple has dissapointed me with their customer service so I have faith that regardless of what "problems" are there with the iPad Air 2, I'll get it fixed/solved.

Also I think I'm just excited because I really miss my iPad for work! Don't lug around my laptop.

Here's the thing though:

(a) Getting your Apple product replaced or repaired by Apple is a royal pain. It's certainly much better that repairing/replacing any other manufacturer's product with the manufacturer, but it's still annoying and a hassle.

(b) iPhones are different in this regard. Like all other Apple products, you are substantially more likely to encounter a problem on any generation of iPhone if you buy it within the first two months as opposed to afterwards. However, the trend has always been that there've been issues with build quality and hardware on the first release of a new body style which is traditionally the numbered iPhone release. With those you can still have problems at any point. One does not have this issue with the 's' releases.

(c) iPads, like Macs, and 's' generation iPhones have historically been prone to issues that pop up in the first couple months, but never again thereafter, ESPECIALLY with a new hardware design. I bought my iPad Air in January and am glad I did; that same model caught fire in a Vodafone store in London just weeks after launch. My iPad Air has had no problems. But it clearly made sense to wait.

(d) You're spending at minimum $500 and at maximum $930; do you really want to have to take that thing in to get it replaced or repaired? No, you're going to want to minimize the chances of that happening because at those prices, you shouldn't have to be inconvenienced.

My big concern is that if I don't buy the instant it goes on sale, I'll never get one. That is the situation for me with the iPhone 6: I want to purchase in-store, but in my area of tri-state NYC, 20 million, not a single NYC store has them, and there are no signs of Apple ever catching up with demand.

You have to remember that the demand for iPhone far exceeds the demand for iPad as people tend to upgrade iPhones far more often than iPads.

Can't you just order it online and have it shipped to an Apple Store?

Has anyone changed their mind since their last response? We've had a bit of leaks coming in. 16GB, 2GB Ram, Touch ID all almost confirmed. We'll find out tomorrow:eek:

Tempted But Want Multi-tasking

I don't know how many times I need to refer to my calendar and my e-mail or Safari. Maybe I really need the super sized iPad or the future 12" MacBook Air?

Exactly. iPad and iPhone releases are two completely different events. Guarantee you can walk in tomorrow afternoon and buy whatever iPad you want! (Unless Apple purposely restricts stock).

Unless it's gold, people want that bling. I'm sure Gold will be "Restricted in stock" *rolls eyes*

I think they have something special for this upgrade up there sleeve beyond what we already know, so I'm in.

Better 8MP rear camera.
Slight thinner.
Better battery life.
Lighter.
A8 Processor
2 GB Ram
HD Retina Display
Touch ID

Not to shabby of an upgrade.

I get a 64GB Air 2. My 32GB Air goes to wife. Her 128GB iPad 2 goes to daughter, daughters 16 GB iPad 2 retired.

It's probably their best upgrade in the past handful of years. I'm in for an Air 2.

I doubt they'll be in stores for purchase tomorrow. Next week most likely.
