All I can say is the vast majority of people out there seem to be enjoying the iPad Air + iOS9. If the OP has done a full restore through iTunes and is still having issues, it is more than likely a faulty unit.

I haven't had ANY issues. Sure, on the iPad Air 2 I'm missing the side by side multitasking, but everything else seems to work just as it did before. I didn't even notice a big hit to performance when I upgraded, no freezing or anything.

No they wouldn't.. or not to the same extent.
plus the apps should mostly work its not like its a new OS every release and at that point a person can make a choice.

Apple are forcing people to keep paying money for new devices. Why can android users keep running old version of their OS and new apps for years and years..

I've actually heard more complaints that old/new android devices are not able to update to the newest OS. Plus app developers are providing updates to their apps based on new hardware and apis. That being said I'm not complaining about my 2011 macbook starting to feel slow because it's old. It's still quick compared to the "old" 2011 windows machines at work.

Not if it's running w10 :p
I put it onto an old HP and it makes my newest macbook look like a joke..

This is a fairytale that deniers/apologists like to believe. Chrome on my 2012 Note II is more stable and scrolls faster than Safari on the new iPhone 6S. Safari on the new rMBP is laggy compared to Edge on the budget $500 Surface 3.

If they are forcing you to keep paying, you should contact your local authorities.

16Gb Air 1 iOS 9.1, zero problems. Come to think of it, my ol' iPhone 5 is also running 9.1, zero problems.

Uh what on earth are you talking about? Name one single brand that has better legacy support than Apple? You can update an iPhone 4S to the newest version of iOS. How many 4 year old Android phones can run the latest version of that OS?

This is so true. It's really impressive when you think about it that every iPad except the very first and iPhones going as far back as the 4s can run the latest iOS version. Even Nexus Android devices don't get that kind of continued support. But Apple can't do anything about the limitations of hardware after the fact. The fact that even an iPad 2 with 512MB of RAM can run iOS 9.1 at all is impressive. Most other companies would have said "Screw it. We're not supporting such an old device anymore. If people want new software and features, they can buy a new one."

I should also mention, to address the original point of the thread, my department at work has an iPad Air which is running 9.1 fine. Maybe not as smoothly as my personal Mini 4 in all instances, but it's certainly far from useless.

Eh I suppose you have time to google articles to back up your claims and post links?

I guess I've been missing Apple forcing me all these years...

Sorry, I can't say that iPad Air has zero problems.

I have no doubt the OP is telling the truth and that Air in the video is also having problems, however, 'mine' is not and I would believe the majority of Air 1's running 9.1 also are not having problem.

It's weird how it always seems that the vast majority of users of many products have no to very little problems at all but then their always seems to be those few out there who's honest experience with that same product is absolutely awful.

Why read about it when you can go to a store like Best Buy and try it for yourself unless you're closed minded then it doesn't matter. I've been using Apple since the 80's so much longer than most of the kids on here and consider myself open minded.

Its really poor how apple force device obsolescence..
Owners should be able to revert back to iOS8 or even 7 on demand.

Vote with your money - don't buy another apple device, go else where.

That is crazy. Nothing wrong with the iPad Air at my house. It works just like my Air 2 but not quite as fast but really well.

As far as picking what OS you would like to use, part of the security in Apple is keeping your hardware updated.

It's not that important and gas is too expensive.

Why so defensive? There are plenty of reports of android users irate about not being able to update to the latest os and plenty of switchers who not the smoothness of iOS over android.

There is a long thread about it.

Well, that's the issue. You choose to remain close minded while spreading ignorance. That kind of thinking won't encourage Apple to improve their products like the stronger bend-proof aluminum, 2GB DRAM to fix Safari and app reloads, etc.

I would believe the majority of Air 1's running 9.1 also are not having problem.

A read of the forum and the internet would suggest otherwise...
iOS9 on the iPhone 6S runs less than smoothly. on the 5S and air 1 it's truly "painful" i dont call that over "dramatic"

I am closed minded to spending money on gas to drive to bestbuy when I don't plan on buying anything.

Unplug, step out of the house, take a multi vitamin.

This thread alone makes it clear that some people's iPad Airs are not performing well with iOS 9, but many people's are. There's nothing more to it than that. Unless they're straight off the production line, no two units are the same, so it's silly to assume everyone should be having the same experience. For example, some people may have apps that are more demanding on the RAM. The effect would be more pronounced on an Air with its 1GB of RAM than an Air 2 with 2GB.

Please don't confuse hardware and software - the hardware and software are completely different.

I can't speak for the iPad Air, but with my iPad mini 2 which is basically the same hardware, iOS 9.1 is running very smooth. It's been better in some respects than it was with iOS 8 even. Certainly no significant issues with lag or anything that is making it remotely unusable at all.

So tell us how the iOS software patches are keeping the "hardware" updated.. o_O

I'm relaxed and more happy to hear how to make iOS 9 viable and fluid not laggy on apple hardware be it the Air, the iPhone 5s or the mini 2. while people have mocked or derived the driod way I'm left thinking thats the only way forward as each iteration of iOS reduces the fluidity of the UI from your starting point.

So please tell us, how we make iOS 9 fluid and lag free. I'll make the changes verbatim and provide honest feedback.
