A read of the forum and the internet would suggest otherwise...
iOS9 on the iPhone 6S runs less than smoothly. on the 5S and air 1 it's truly "painful" i dont call that over "dramatic"
Interesting. I have an iPad Air running 9.1 with zero issues, and up until a week ago I also had a 5S running 9.1 with zero issues. Stop pretending your experience is representative to everyone's. There are clearly quite a few people here who does not agree with you, deal with it.

in the same way deal with it that there are many more "with" issue, read the forum.. or are they all making it up?
Or even better explain why a closed box solution is so bad and it's results vary so differently even though its fully locked down and users cant make changes that would/could impact the experience.

All that means is that some people are having issues, while others aren't. You seem intent on pretending that everyone claiming they have no issues are either lying or in denial, which is simply not the case. With the amount of units shipped by Apple you are ALWAYS going to have some defective ones. However, it still seems like the majority of people have no problems, which is basically all I'm saying. You do know that people with problems make a lot more noise than people who have none right? You seeing threads does in no way, shape or form mean "most people" are having issues.

The iPad Airs do stutter in some select animations in iOS 9. All of them. A simple trip to an Apple Store will show this.

However, it doesn't bother all people and fair play to them. If they can learn to ignore it or not notice it in the first place then I am happy for them.

Wrong, there are a small number of extremely vocal people who are unhappy. There's no way that the membership of this forum (of any views, by the way) is representative of the overall user population.

This is a fairytale that deniers/apologists like to believe. Chrome on my 2012 Note II is more stable and scrolls faster than Safari on the new iPhone 6S. Safari on the new rMBP is laggy compared to Edge on the budget $500 Surface 3.
No, it isn't a fairy tale. I had a Droid X which had a bug where it would wake itself up after being powered down. Motorola told me it was a bug, and that they would fix it, and then they literally walked away from the X without a fix and abandoned me and others who had this problem. No, we couldn't upgrade to the next version of Android. That is when I got an iPhone. You could say that this was a Moto problem and not an Android problem, but why nit pick. I will never get another Moto device after this experience. And, with the problems I've had with IOS 8 and 9 on my iPad3, I won't get another IOS device, either.

So basically you have no context in terms of majority or minority... only your own experience which seems to be 180deg to most of the forum posts here? Granted, not many people post. "All good, nothing to see.!" but you seem to be in denial and the problem is limited to "some defective ones".. its not. its much bigger than that. is it the majority or minority... probably in the middle..

i guess these guys made it up too?

I could post those all day - either me and the other guy with a problem have been REALLY REALLY busy, or its more than "some defective ones"

I don't think that all Apple Stores would have defective units on display The iPad Air unfortunately does struggle to run the iOS 9 animations at 60fps. Hopefully this will be sorted in future updates sooner rather than later.

Lol - good one..
Maybe the conspiracy theorist have been in and done it on purpose in in order to make it look bad?
I actually think its the droid fanboys..

I seem to have a better understanding of relevant sample size than you do at least. How many of the millions and millions of sold units are exhibiting this problem? Likely not that many. But in the end it doesn't matter one bit what you think, I still won't have any issues, regardless of how loudly you whine about it.

And regardless of how much you try to be a keyboard warrior and shout down other peoples issues they won't go away. I guess the other user is making up the fact the ones in the apple store do it?
You have NO grasp on sample size and you have ONLY your own experience. You can not quantify other users experience but i can show lots of others are having issues without claiming everyone is... or are you saying I'm making up the internet contents?

But yes, your "opinion" on whats good or bad counts for less than nothing. The same as the rest of us! Strange how apple list bug fixes for 9.0.2 as addressing "performance improvements" its not an issue remember? Lol. epic!

My iPad Air is running iOS 9.1. There are no problems at all with it. If anything, 9.1 fixed one issue that I was having with 9.0.

I certainly see a keyboard warrior, but it ain't me. Also, trying to just repeat what I said, but aimed at me, isn't going to fly anytime soon. But at least you're trying! Good luck!

Does anyone have an ipad air1 with ios9 who has more than 10 fps in multitasking animations?

What are you using to measure it? We can then do the same and let you know the numbers..

I have an iPhone 5 and for what it's worth, since iOS 9, the Mail app is extremely laggy when I first open the app and/or refresh it. I downloaded the gmail app to help mitigate my frustration with it. All the other apps are slower to load, but useable.

Connect it to your Mac, launch XCode and then browse through, you'll find some tool that measures frame rate every second. I did that and I found out that my iPad Air has around 25fps when I am using the app switcher.

My iPad Air has been pretty much useless since iOS 9. I was looking forward to iOS 9 since they had promised to improve the stability and performance (as far as I understood).
Reality is the extreme opposite. When swiping down the search bar on the home screen, the keyboard lags. When opening the multitasking manager, the animations are so bad that I'm almost scared of opening it.
I know many people experience these issues.

My only concern is, if Apple even considers fixing the before mentioned bugs. Frankly, I don't think they will.
I even thought about getting the Air 2 but again there are people who complain about it being laggy as well.

PS: I forgot to mention I'm on 9.1 currently.

Maybe try iOS 9.2 Public Beta, that is what I am using on my iPad 4, and it seems quite a bit faster than it was on iOS 9.1, less stutter.

Sorry - did you say stutter.
Careful a user will shortly jump on you and say you are the only person in the world with this issue and you are making it up..!

However - good to know..

No, i don't run betas.
I work for a tech company in the valley and i know from the inside how rough or unpolished betas can be.

Well, if you're to drag a phone from 2010 into the discussion my iPhone 4 was pretty crappy too especially with the yellow spot developed on the display. Just crap quality that hasn't changed much.
