Ok, and I’m not saying you’re wrong for having different preferences. But I do think it’s important to clarify that it isn’t a replacement for you, your setup, and your needs. Which is perfectly fine, nobody’s saying that’s a bad thing. But for many others, myself included, it is a great replacement, and in many cases is even a better option. 👍🏻
So who on here uses a iPad and and a external display only, no Mac.

I do technically have a Mac Mini, but could easily just use an iPad and external display only as you describe. I rarely ever use my Mac Mini at this point, and when I do, it’s mainly only because I forgot to bring my iPad to dock it at my desk… There is no mission critical utility that a Mac Mini provides in my setup.

Doubt you could find anyone using a iPad only with a external screen as a permanent setup in a office situation.

Perhaps for you, but not for everyone. The point is it’s extremely easy to use a full-sized keyboard with an iPad…
As I explained it's not lol you seem to be the defender of the iPad and can't except anything negative that is said even if true.

And? That has nothing to do with anything, it doesn’t mean that’s impossible for everyone… And as I said, I could very easily be one of those people, I already practically am…

It would be a great feature in iOS and macOS 27 if you could choose to install full macOS on the iPad Pro. Since they use the same processor (M5 right now), they'd just have to add touch to macOS and iPadOS already supports trackpads and keyboards.

For you. And only because you aren’t willing to do simple things like unpair the keyboard when you don’t need it, etc… Many do it all the time. And the 13” iPad Air or iPad Pro come with a full-sized keyboard case… So yes, it’s extremely simple to use a full-sized keyboard with an iPad…

Anyway have pointed out the issues the iPad has with a extended display, if you can put up with it all good.
It's not just the keyboard.
Will leave it there.

Please no… There’s a reason I use an iPad as my primary computer. I prefer iPadOS over macOS. Especially with the stuff macOS 26 did like removing Launchpad…. I would never want macOS on my iPad…

I have a Logitech MX Keys S keyboard that can be paired with 3 different devices and I can switch between them tapping a button. I use it to switch back and forth between my Mac Studio and my iPad Pro without having to repair anything.

The pointer is laughable on iPad os on a big screen.
So many things, streaming apps, split screen all much better on Mac OS on a big screen.
Can't even adjust the ADS screen brightness without going into settings with their own keyboard lol
Don't get me started on the mail app.
Or FID.

Well, that’s your opinion, but others disagree… You’re opinion/experience is just that, it isn’t universal… 🤷🏼‍♂️

And I see you edited this comment. I have spoken about several things in this very thread that I think could be improved with the iPad and iPadOS…. I don’t take issue with your negative experience/opinion, I take issue with the insinuation that your subjective experience/opinion is a universal truth for everyone… The broad-brushing statements are what I’m taking issue with. Many here (including myself) in this thread have a very different experience/opinion.

Again, I have nothing against your opinion/experience. And I’m very happy that the M4 Mac Mini is working out great for you! 👍🏻. It’s just you come off as dismissing those who have other experiences/opinions. I’m sure that isn’t your intention, but the unqualified statements you’re making imply that your opinion is objective fact when it isn’t… And it doesn’t have to be objective fact, I fully respect it as your opinion. I hope that explains my position. 🙂👍🏻.

Another thing, wifi speeds are way better on a Mac mini and 15" MacBook air both M4 v iPad Pro M4 2TB.
They both use WiFi 6E and same modems. If you’re comparing M4 vs M4. They’re literally identical on that front… The M4 Mac and M4 iPad both have the same WiFi speed…

The Mac mini gives me my full 550/50 speed so does my 16 pro, just did a hard restart and the week old iPad M4 2TB is about 10% under full speed now, was 30-40 % below, who knows.

WiFi speed usually varies between back-to-back tests even on the exact same device… It doesn’t mean one device has slower WiFi than another, it just means the speed of the WiFi network fluctuates…

And even the content creators have never made any such claims. If this were universally true, I am sure there would be several content creators hopping on the opportunity to claim the iPad was “inferior” to the Mac… 🤦🏼‍♂️
