Well, my iPad died last night :( Playing a game (bloons!) and the screen went all weird, stripy, then off. No amount of hard reset helping - just a black screen. So...maybe the issues I mentioned were partially hardware-related?

Got an appointment with the Genius Bar on the weekend...now to think what I will do when the likely verdict of DOA comes. Shame, I had hoped that the device would last a tad longer...
Just back from the genius bar - and the screen is confirmed not working. I can use it with an external display with keyboard and mouse, but the built in screen just stays black while it’s on. First for the genius as well, so just bad luck for me and my device.

I ordered an iPad stand for my desk! It is not anything super premium, but looks like it will be really nice for what I’m doing. Looking forward to testing it out!

This is the stand I ordered. 👍🏻

Looks like a decent stand for the price, and it gets 4.6 out of 5 stars from almost 600 people. Should suit your needs nicely. And if not, Amazon has an easy return policy.😉

Edit: This is the one I got for my iPP when I first got it. Foldable and transports easy. Looks like yours is too.

Yeah, I’m excited to see how it works, and it will almost definitely be better than what I’m currently using! 👍🏻.

That stand also looks well built! Very similar, concept. 👍🏻

What are you currently using?
It’s not very visible in the photo, you can see a little bit of it poking out beneath the iPad, but I’m currently using a plastic phone prop that has a dry erase calendar on it, and balancing the iPad on that. Needless to say, it isn’t super stable, and isn’t height or angle adjustable either. So will be very nice to have a more adjustable and stable stand. 👍🏻

PS, also featured, my latest experiment with StandBy Mode for iPad, aka, the Notification Center, and screen auto-lock setting set to never. I’m really liking this setup as a smart display. 👍🏻

Experiment? So.. you have a shortcut set in place for when charging to give you that look?

And I don’t like to keep my auto-lock setting set to never…. Kind of disappointed Apple didn’t add StandBy Mode to the iPad when they went with OLED.

Not exactly, I just keep it on Notification Center when I’m not using it, and am setting up some lock screen combinations for it that I can cycle between with automated focus modes at different times of day. 👍🏻

Yeah, it would be great if Apple were to add proper StandBy Mode for the iPad. Hopefully they will at some point. I guess OLED panels can be a bit more prone to burn in than LCD panels from what I was reading (did a bunch of looking into it to make sure I wasn’t going to cause burn in on my iPad keeping it on), and so I think the iPhones that support Always-On Display mode can switch the refresh rate down really low to aid in preventing burn in if I recall correctly. So unsure if it’s just that the OLED panels on the iPad Pro models would be more susceptible to burn in, or if perhaps they’re just waiting till they transition the rest of the iPad lineup to OLED. I’ve heard that they’re planning to do that within the next couple years. 👍🏻

The glare is shocking, all iPads should have nano, welcome back, play nice.👍

No, not iPads should have nano technology… because it affects image quality and brightness is restrained. I for one don’t care for the nano technology… I had the option to get it since I have the TB model.
Yeah, same here, don’t like the way nano texture looks for image quality. I can see why others like it, but that’s just not my personal preference. Could have easily gotten an anti-glare screen protector if I wished to (I always use screen protectors on my devices anyways, so if I wanted anti-glare, would just get a screen protector that was anti-glare), but I like gloss screens better. 👍🏻

But I’m really enjoying that smart display setup, and working on putting together a photo album of landscape photos I like that I can have it cycle through periodically during the day. 👍🏻

I sourced some of Apple’s landscape wallpapers, and added them into a photo album. Then I used the Photo Shuffle option on the lock screen, and set it to switch photos each hour. I set up an automated focus mode to use this slideshow mode during the day, and then switch to the simple black background and green text version in the evening. So far liking the slideshow setup and the visual variety! 👍🏻. Very pleasant using an iPad as a smart display vs a dedicated smart display like the echo show. No ads pestering you to ask it’s AI assistant x question, no ads pestering you to watch this show, buy this product, etc. Just a pleasant display showing some glanceable information, with the power of iPadOS and full iPad apps just a swipe away! Smart displays like the echo show have some advantages, but for my purposes, this will be a nice way to put it to use when I’m not using it as a secondary display or something, since my iPad Pro is my daily driver. 👍🏻🙂

So much better to read on and watch video, brightness will burn your eye balls out lol
I wouldn't pay retail for it, got it for 70% off.
Just a big iPhone to me with no glare, win win.
