That's great if you want to do those things. But, I don't read books or play games, I don't have time for that. I don't ride the bus or fly, I drive, so I don't have the ability to do things like that while I travel. When I go places for work I don't have room for a 10" device. I just have my pockets for my phone. If I need to check something, it's much more convenient. Not to mention the fact I don't want to pay $629 for a 3G device AND pay $30/month for the ability to do that.

dwd,

Why are you wasting my time posting this?

It bears absolutely NO relevance to the headline article.

You quite clearly have no need nor no desire for an iPad.

It's about as helpful as me posting -
"I'm not going to buy any golf clubs this year because I don't want to play golf."

Welcome to the revolution folks. The iPhone is transitioning us right into the iPad.

Indeed! And it is going to be quite a ride. The potential of iPad (even in spite of its existing shortcomings) has me quite excited. It will be a blast to see all the creativity unleashed on a new platform....

All this bickering about who has the best OS or devices is just plain childish. In some parts of this world technology will always be, just a dream.

Consider yourself lucky.

Cow crap...the 3rd world's answer to silly putty.

So you don't carry a briefcase or porfolio or anything?

What kind of work do you do that you just have your pockets and a phone?

He's a greeter at a nudist camp. He puts the phone in the pocket which is tied by a string around his waist.

iPad and netbook screens

My iPad is going to replace my MBP, full time.

Even my MacBook Air could not replace my MacBook Pro. My 13" MB Pro could not replace my 15" MB Pro. I don't think that many people are in your shoes, unless we are talking about yuppies, who got their computers on the basis of being a default middle class choice, something matching their iPhones and Sarah Jessica Parker.

All this bickering about who has the best OS or devices is just plain childish. In some parts of this world technology will always be, just a dream.

Consider yourself lucky.

It's ironic that it was exactly this environment that triggered the development of netbooks. Also, it was this region that triggered the development of the screen that will truly bring tablets into the game. Have you heard of the OLPC?

iPad hands on:

I especially like the part when they hopeful sucker asks about making calls on it. Nope! That might possibly cannibalize Steve Jobs' other darling the iPhone. Gotta buy and carry both I guess! "Muah hahahahahaha!" (evil laugh) That's nice and convenient, Apple.
