As soon as Apple starts making laptops with cellular data support I am so in. Until then, wifi only just doesn't cut it for me. A MacBook with cell data.....oh baby!

Yeah, right. Please. Laptops with cell data support? Where have you been?? There have been carriers that offer mobile internet service with an attachable modem or similar for years.

Use the wifi at cafes, home or the office then. It's free. Otherwise, get yourself a carrier plan to let you use your phone as a hotspot or attached device for the laptop.

A MacBook with cell data is just plain stupid.

I think we're coming to see that tablets are a lot like PCs in regards to how often they will be upgraded by users. They had the large initial boom of sales to get them into the market, now people are just keeping what they have since it's good enough. The iPad 2 still gets the job done for most people and most businesses who purchase them in bulk are also still using iPad 2s. No reason to get a newer model.

In fact I think tablets will be upgraded even less often than PCs going forward as they are the least essential device between computers, smartphones, and tablets.

For sure. For many, a luxury, not needed, but handy. I'd prefer a $ statistic than volume, given the cheapie that sit in kids toy boxes

Just buy a Mi-FI device which is a much better option and will have far better reception than an integrated version, plus you can connect a whole range of things to it. I currently use the Huawei E5377s. Strongly recommended.

Activation lock killed the lock on iPad market share. I don't dare buy these as I have two locked ones I'm stuck with.

Why would it kill it? Make sure that it has been restored and no previous account is associated with it.

The iPad 2 wouldn't get the job done for me, but the fact that it's still selling on Amazon nearly 4 and a half years after being released (currently #42 in Tablets and receiving largely positive reviews from customers everyday) proves your point. And it's a testament to how solid the iPad product line has been.

I was amazed I got £100 for mine

I think this is the reason why Apple is making an iPad Pro, maybe an attempt to make the iPad more productive and aimed at us creative types, business people and many other productive people/professions, maybe also the education market.

Let's not forget that IOS 9 has multitasking support, Apple have probably planned this for a while. They are not stupid they know very well what they are doing.
