Mathematics
Dude you should have listend a little bit more what your math teachers told you….If you think it won‘t be possible because a 3mm difference in size is „not the same physical appearance“ then ok I agree with you. But as the Mini developement follows the Air redesign it just are those few mm as I already said 100 times 😅
So it seems completely possible to (almost) keep the phyical appearance unchanged.

iPad Air3:
height (250.6 mm), width (174.1 mm), depth of . 24” (6.1 mm)

iPad Air4
247.6 mm X 178.5 mm X 6.1 mm

That's called a different form factor. A physical change is a physical change. Not sure why you're trying reinvent words. There's going to be at least 0.25" difference in the width and height of the chassis.

I am not sure why you are hair splitting so much I think it was very well understandable what I wrote.
Plus a 0,25“ change is not „the same size form factor“ for you?
Are you kidding me?
You won‘t buy it because it is 0,25“ too big or 0,05g too heavy for sure.
That is too much of a form factor/physical change/physical appearance change.

No word on storage. 2TB is a no. 1TB possible, but not likely. I'm hoping for at least 512GB, which I think will be likely.

It has a different aspect ratio with different dimensions. That's called a different form factor. No one would call a 5.8" and 6.1" iPhone the same form factor. If you want to reinvent words and speak your own language, do so somewhere else.

I bought a mini last week with intention of returning it, but man, base with cellular at $529 is crazy for not having a significant update for a minute, 2019 mini 5 only updated camera and chips, plus Apple Pencil. Want to get one for my wife but worried price will be too steep upon release!

329$ for the Wifi only base model is the cheapest I've seen it. I don't get the cellular model so I don't know what it's cost add is.
Right now is largely not a good time for value buying. CPI coupled with Apple in its last quarterly report said the chip shortage was hurting iPad and Mac builds. Tight inventory never helps to get this super value deals.

With these two double whammies there may not be a good value buy in a while. But value buying always requires definite patience that isn't always easy to maintain.

Noone is renventing words. The only thing happening here is that you are some annoying hair splitter who simply can‘t read nor understand what people are trying to tell him.

To clear this stupid topic up and hopefully even you will understand with your limited hair splitting attitude and your annoying wanna be tech language what I said all the time:
1. I believe the Mini is being changed
2. I believe the measurements of the device will stay almost the same as they are now (=same PHYSICAL APPEARANCE in your great almighty techy words)
3. I believe the top and bottom boarders will shrink and the sideboarders will become thicker so that the screensize fits the 8,3“ (=DIFFERENT FORMFACTOR in your almighty techy words)
4. so all in all the Mini 6 will change similarily to the Air 3 - Air 4.

I hope this is cleared up now and I never have to answer you again.

Uh except the 2019 iPad Mini. That wasn’t the point anyways. The point is that a redesigned Mini has not been rumored since before the redesigned iPad Pro even came out.
It came out a quarter later, that's not a long time considering the upgrade cycles for iPads. The point is that the current iPad mini is very outdated in its design compared to the iPad Pro and iPad Air range, and it's natural for people to want, and also reasonably expect, a replacement device.

I understand that. The original post I replied to implied these redesign rumors have been around for 3 years. I pointed out that's not the case. its been more like a year if that.
