Is this similar to OnePlus 5 back then?

I don't have a OnePlus 5 phone nor do I have an iPad mini 6

I thought that it was a feature of Safari... XD

Personally, I don't have a problem with it and besides that I use landscape 99% of the time anyway.

For any refresh rate fetishists the lack of 120Hz may be the bigger issue... and that would have certainly dealt with this to a large extent as well.

Meh… I've noticed this on my new mini. If this is a hardware issue, it's going back to Apple.

I noticed it immediately out of the box, but to be completely honest it really isn’t a big deal. This is from someone now using 120hz on iPhone 13 Pro. Basically, it doesn’t matter because you can’t read while scrolling at 60hz. But also because I’m primarily using the tablet in landscape for side by side apps, and only in portrait for reading books.

IIRC the first retina iPad mini had this same issue.

Apple QA is horrendous. Always wait when a new product comes out. like I am not installing ios15 yet or buying an iphone 13 yet. I will eventually get both

I must be lucky, or not that eagle eyed. Been using mine without issue since Friday, even tested using a slo-mo video and can't see any issues.

As an aside, it's been an awesome device, glad I made the decision to get one! Kinda sad there isn't a review of it on here yet, as the iPhone stole all the thunder last Friday apparently.

So yeah, it’s definitely there. Noticed now thanks to this story. The thin coloured blue bars on this forum quite visibly tilt to the left when I scroll down and to the right when I scroll up, however…is it that big of an issue?? Really? I certainly won’t be losing sleep over it.

Anyone remember when Steve was in charge and you genuinely thought he wanted the best experience for users, instead of penny-pinching Timothy....
If anyone truly remembers when Steve was in charge, they'd remember just as many issues occurred under his tenure... even though there were fewer products. The major difference between the two tenures, Apple under Cook is more willing to acknowledge an issue, apologize if it's deemed appropriate, and work to fix it. Steve was a bit more "Jobs" in handling issues.

I think if it would be a hardware issue you should see it in both orientations. Of course it is unfortunate and they should definitley fix it but I still love that iPad Mini
No, it's apparently because the display controllers are on the side, not the top or bottom. Supposedly the old mini's had it, too, to a lesser degree, but you could only see it in landscape because the controllers were on the top/bottom instead.

I guess the screen is oriented with an angle of 90° so the screen refresh is going from left to right.

I remember the OnePlus 5 having the same issue with a screen oriented in a 180° angle.

I guess it'd be time for vertical sync like GSync or Free Sync.

Screens refresh from "top" to "bottom", though with a screen that rotates this becomes a bit arbitrary. I'd suggest trying horizontal scrolling in the other orientation and seeing if you can see it. As I'll bet is still there just that if you scroll in the direction the screen refreshes you won't see it as a single line of text gets refreshed at the same time.
