iPad mini iPad Mini - UK LTE Thread

Strange....

Couple of weeks back I ordered a 32g Mini LTE online. I cancelled it within 10 minutes thinking I should wait and get one in the new year. However Apple retail put a hold on the money on my cc card. It then took 10 days for them to release it and for the funds to reappear in my 'balance available'.

I reordered the same item a week later. Order went through ok (seemingly) A couple of weeks later Apple called me about the shipping speed etc etc. They acted as though the order was ok. Well at lunch I was in the bank, and it looks like Apple haven't put a hold on the money on my card.

So I call Apple today. The Customer Service Assistant said "Let me look at your order....right ok this item is due to ship this friday, your card will be charged then. Sorry for any confusion. Its odd because normally CC have the funds marked but there isn't any issue with your order it looks like its going out ok..."

Make of that what you will. Customer Service Assistant drivel, or factual update from looking at order status on Apples internal system. I've given up guessing! -
 
I'm looking at getting a 32GB Cellular (I've noticed Apple doesn't call it LTE on the UK site, any reason why?) Mini.

Now that Apple have put up the "Order iPad mini by midnight Nov. 28 for guaranteed delivery before Christmas" message, I need to make a decision to either order online now or gamble finding one in store.

What are the chances of getting one from an Apple store/other offline store before christmas?

Preparing shipment for me too. Ipad mini 16+Cellular @ Spain. My delivery window is 28/nov 5/dec.
 
Grrrrr!

I'm an idiot!!

Cancelled the SIM card yesterday and it made delivery jump to December 4th (5th prior) so today my 'logic' tells me to cancel Smart Cover to see if it jumps again!

Obviously my feminine intuition is off as all it did was make the date go back to the rather vague 'between 30th November and 7th December'

Ho hum and soooooo trying to be chilled, patient and grown up about it all :D

Mine has just changed to exactly the same (London).

Are the ones dispatch / preparing for dispatch all a similar model?

Payment has just been taken for my order (I got the robocall from my credit card company), which ISTR is the first sign of movement from the dreaded "processing items" status. "Delivers 26 Nov, 2012 - 03 Dec, 2012" may actually happen! :eek:

Mine changed at some point today to Preparing for Shipment...
 
Does "shipment" actually mean ship?...or does it mean 'flight'?..er flightment....in which case your looking at 10hrs before thay are landing at Heathrow from Chengdu?

Any word on availability of cellular iPad Minis in stores yet? My father is in hospital, needs access to email and there is no wifi he can use (there is a PC in the hospital library but hours are limited and he is in a wheelchair so can't get there easily himself). An iPad Mini would be a perfect solution.

I know its looking very unlikely and I may instead have to go for a refurb 3rd Gen rather than risk waiting. Any news either way would be helpful.

PS while it doesn't have to be an iPad, my brother has one and they could chat on facetime/imessage.

I know it's not a perfect solution but what about using a MIFI or phone with tethering? then you can get a WIFI only version which seems to be easier to get hold of.
