The best case i'd like to get would be a genuine leather folio case. The best leather I've ever had was on Twelve South's BookBook case. I've had a Kavaj leather case but the leather is very thin and not as good.
Have you tried one of the Oxford cases from Pad & Quil?

It is when the Apple Smart Keyboard is attached. It's a bit loose with nothing on the iPad and will just drop out when you turn it upside down.

A ploy to sell overpriced accessories to fill out the space in the sleeve; i dont care too much for bulk hence the keyboard is out of the question and doesn't fit my use case. That said, 'am in favor of keeping the Pencil with the iPad and the Sleeve fits the bill sadly enough:rolleyes:.

i was looking at their linen book bindery series, they built their company off their Leayher ones so just wondering.

I like the concept of the adhesive pads they use in their thin folio designs. The reviews I've read have been positive.
Many positive reviews. A very reputable company.

...the KHOMO DUAL. Mine arrived today and I'm using it now. I'll share thoughts tomorrow.

Lol. OK so here we go:

Since I typically buy Apple-branded cases, my comparison of the 10.5 KHOMO will be to the official Apple Smart Cover/case that I have for the 9.7 Pro. I've always liked the 9.7 Apple Cover/case, even though the back tends to show fingerprints and grease that is sometimes difficult to remove.

So the KHOMO case comes with practically no packaging outside a plastic bag. I suppose this is a great way to keep costs down! The fit and cutouts are very good and precise, practically as good as an Apple case. The magnet appears to strong and reliably engages the sleep/wake function. I have no problem with the finer grain/fuzz of the inside of the cover, as the OEM one often traps crumbs easily. Seems like the KHOMO might be better in this regard.

Someone mentioned earlier - the Lightning cutout is indeed different from the pic on Amazon. It's actually open near the home button. Also, the top cover can be a little bit tricky to lift/open. The Apple covers have another 1mm or so "overhang", which people without the back case despise, but it's actually useful when used with the back case. The KHOMO just needs a bit more... as such, it's easier to open via the top or bottom corners vs. the side.

Minor complaints overall, for the price I'd say it's near-perfect. You can see in the second pic that the corners aren't as tight and robust as the Apple case.

There have been some complaints (with the 9.7" variant) that the magnets weren't strong enough to keep the lid closed when held upside down. Can you confirm or deny this with the 10.5" variant?

Thanks for the review. I just wish Apple would surprise us and release the back cases, but it probably won't happen until the next iPad Pro. I just wish I could take the 9.7" case and stretch it out slightly to fit, or take two and chop them together. So frustrating! The Apple iPad cases are always the best IMO and I have no idea why they're doing this except to get more people to break their iPads. Arrggggghh!

If you hold it upside down, the magnet stays attached. However, if you give it a shake, it will open. Testing the same scenario on the Apple cover/case, it stays shut regardless of shaking.

Good review. I'll add a couple of annoyances compared to the smart case:

1. One side of the iPad is not covered by the backcase. This impacts the grip and feel during use. I don't really care about the smart connector as I live in 2017 and my peripherals are wireless, but perhaps that's the reason?
2. The angle of the hold for reading/movie watching is quite a bit too small. I prefer the Apple smartcase angle.
3. Cutouts aren't as precise in my case. YMMV?

I live in 2017 also and using the Smart Connector for a keyboard ensures me that I never have to worry about charging yet another device.

I haven't "charged" my keyboard since I bought it in 2015. How many times have you charged your iPad?

So you have a BT keyboard since 2015 and have not charged it once? Either you hardly use it or you are exaggerating. I have had Logitech and zagg BT keyboards and yeah they need recharging.

End of day, a good iPad Pro case needs to account for the smart connector.

Given that the case officially does not support the smart keyboard per the seller, it's an idiotic stance to say the connector still needs to be exposed.

And yes, in the year 2015, they had keyboards with 2 years battery life.

Ok, if you say so. But based on the Zagg KB I have in my closet purchased in 2016 and used at various week-long conferences and business meetings, the battery is dead. Whatever. I'll stick to my slim, non-battery ASK.

With reference to your other comment, I did not say that particular case needed to support the SC, a good overall case should account for that as it is a feature that some may want to leverage. It's why the Apple Smart case Smart Cover and ASK was a very flexible combo. As such many on this thread, including myself are hoping Apple will come around and offer it for 10.5. I am not holding my breath and need a back case to accommodate the ASK for an upcoming conference.

Fully understood and agreed on your SC comment. It's just not for me, coming from the Apple leather smartcase perspective. I've just been spoiled by that case. Apple hasn't done anything interesting or creative with the SC, frankly.

You can check out the Logitech keyboards, they are up to 4 year battery life now. From my side, the Apple ✏️ + MyScript keyboard has almost eliminated my need of a physical keyboard on this form factor. I still have my trusty keyboard on hand for whenever I need it though... I just don't need the constant clunkiness of the ASK.

A'ight, I ordered the basic KHOMO $9.99 model over the carbon-fiber or the twill.

Figured I'll buy something else in a few months, so why waste the extra $.

Thanks for the review(s), all. I'll post mine when it arrives.

Has anyone found any good cases that cover the back of the 10.5 iPad Pro that are also compatible with the Apple Smart Keyboard? Would like to have a case that covers the back that doesn’t need to be taken off in order to use the Smart Keyboard.

Have looked all over amazon but seems like slim to no choices. I apologize if this question has been asked, I’m new to this thread & scrolled through a few of the pages but didn’t see anything. Any help would be appreciated !
