Seems like a lot more cases are coming out this week. Anyone have experience with Urban Armor Gear on previous iPads?

If I could find a Shell to use with the Smart Cover I'd get it for sure. So far haven't seen any good ones.

Same here ..... got the Smart Cover. Now I'm just waiting a decent shell to show up on Amazon.

That looks really nice. I wasn't going to keep the ASK, but might just hold on to it and pair with this Contega. I have a feeling the Zagg Keyboard Case I preordered from bestbuy is still going to be a bit bulkier than I'd prefer.

The primary purpose of ASK is to attach to the iPad and serve as a front cover. Not only does this case use adhesive strips (which I find ludrcris) to hold the iPad in but it forces you to carry the ASK separately. I'll pass.

I did try uag case for my iPad Pro 9.7. It wasn't an amazing case for the price. I really didn't like how the front cover flopped around when in book mode. The case was on the heavy side for me. Also the viewing angles weren't exactly stable. I did like the fact that the front cover was detachable and it had Apple Pencil slot to carry it around. I ended up returning it and going with the apple Smart Cover and silicone case combination.

I got the smart cover. Just looking for the most minimal skin/shell to avoid scratches on the back. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I get not liking the strips but it doesn't at all force you to carry the ASK separately. The ASK fits when closed. It's in the video.

I have a theory for why Apple didn't include the silicone covers that everyone wants: with the new over-the-top processing power that the new iPad Pro 10.5 has, additional chips, etc... Apple thinks (or knows) that the unit will over-heat with a silicone case. So thats why they dropped it. Just my opinion. So, if thats true, will putting it in a aftermarket case potentially cause heating problems? Extra processing power in any computer means more heat. iPads have to fans, so the only way for the heat to dissipate is through the rear aluminum.

I wondered the same thing, although in fewer words :), but I don't have a 10.5 yet so can't judge myself. Perhaps others could comment on whether it gets warm at all.

Apple sells a third party full case/keyboard/kickstand on its store.

I'm planning on ordering the Contega in the light grey for a 10.5... I haven't see the equivalent Dodo case, so thanks I'll look at that. I think I would prefer the Linen to the leather. I like they designed it to be able o use the smart keyboard with it as well.

Seems to be missing at least one microphone cutout on the back.

Also, no OSK typing angle.

That looks really nice BUT I'm very concerned about it staying in the case via the adhesive. I think for peace of mind I'd prefer something that is a little more robust. Still It looks nice and I'm very tempted by this

Here's the URL for the 10.5 pre-order and its only 119, so not too expensive.

The Dodo case is less expensive and it looks like it uses a tray to hold the iPad in place which is what I prefer

Edit: on the Pad & Quill site, looks like they offer iPad cases that uses a frame to secure the iPad as well, so I'm looking into those models

My main concern is a case that will hold the keyboard and pen. (if I get them)

It just looks cobbled together. The video did not show how the iPad is removed. I would buy that for maybe 35 to 40 dollars.

Yes in both cases. I have a surfacebook laptop and I'm constantly misplacing the stylus. I just got the apple stylus and so that concern is forefront on my brain.

I threw caution (and dollars) to the wind and bought the Apple Leather sleeve. Yes it was expensive-ish but so far it works well, looks great and holds my Apple Pencil securely. If I had one criticism it would be that there is not a cut out in the bottom to allow in sleeve charging but, there again, that would probably/definitely cause overheating issues.
I tried keyboard cases with my original iPad and just couldn't get on with them - if I need a real keyboard, Ill use my MacBook!

It is not intended to be removed, but it can be by just pulling it off the 3M stick pads. They also sale replacement stick pads.

Turn the ipad around?

Highly doubt there would be overheating issues.

Yeah my impression is the tray based models are made out of wood so they are alot thicker than that plastic cases you would get from the Dodo case. there are some pros and cons to the stick pads of course, but it does facilitate using the Apple Keyboard with the case, where most of the shell based cases do not allow this.

I've heard mixed reports that the Apple sleeve is large enough to store the iPad with the Smart Keyboard attached. Can you confirm?

Everyone says it fits fine.

Not too useful for those in the states but for Europe Kavaj have confirmed one of their offerings

If its anything like their phone cases it should be well made and fairly cheap. Ignore the RRP, they never charge that.
