How much weight/bulk does the case add? I had a case similar to that one on my 1st gen 12.9, but I am honestly loving the 2nd gen with no case (other than my ASK which does cover the front). The only thing is, I won't close it up and lay it down because I don't want the back to touch anything until I get a case on it, but I don't want a case to bulk it up.

I know, first world probs...

Actually, I just went ahead and ordered it. I know I won't be able to relax without something on the back of it.

Has there been any update from Apple regarding official 2nd gen 12.9 cases?

No, I haven't heard anything from the Mobile Sales Specialist I spoke to. I know that all the sleeves are in short quantity though. So a whole bunch of people are going to be walking around with nicked iPads...

I've got the new (and cheap) ESR Folio case for my new Pro. Good fit. Works well. The edges of the back seem a little flexy, but no issues so far. I will probably upgrade to something better eventually. It's nice and stable in landscape on a stand too. No complaints for the price.

How do the covered buttons for power and volume operate? Any issues there? I don't normally go for cases where these are covered but I'll need to pick up a new case soon.

That TopACE unfortunately has a long delivery time - at least to the UK as it is shipping from China.

A question for those with the ESR case. When using with the cover folded up as a stand for typing etc. does the case slide around on a smooth surface or is there sufficient grip to avoid this? TIA.

Just received my ESR Case in the mail. I've been using it for the last 2 hours and I must say, I LOVE IT! I was purchasing this case as a temporary until something "better" came out. Now, I will ride with this for as long as it functions. It's perfect for me. Slim, discrete, stylish, lightweight, and feels very good in the hand. I may even prefer it slightly to my old Apple Silicone Case for my iPad Pro 9.7. The only thing the silicone case has on this is it may protect the iPad a little better, and that's a maybe. For those on the fence, GET IT! Only $12.99.

The covered buttons are just like pushing the buttons with nothing on them. I honestly forgot they were covered. There's zero effort when pushing them.

The ESR's plastic is almost like a rubbery feeling plastic. I can't really explain it, but it definitely has grip. When I read your post I propped up my iPad on the kitchen table and tried to make it slide. There was actually resistance. I think you're good here!

I unfortunately have a lot of requirements for my case and I found one that meets most. I wanted something that was just the back of the case (no front cover), has a clear/transparent back, a pencil holder, a cutout for the ASK and light weight. It's less than a half pound and barely feels like I have a case on. This one from Poetic meets all the requirements. The only flaw is it's the 2015 version. It's only $15, so I don't mind. I can cut out the microphone and flash hole with a drimmel.

I this one on my short list too - but I do need something for the front on the go... I think.

I know that lifeproof is working on a 10.5 and 12.9 pro (gen 2 only) case. That is going to be the one I get when it's finally released because of the option for water proof (not swimming or fun, but the risk of rain/spills).

i just preordered the new Kavaj London Case. Looks Great for 45 €

Received the Khomo case today which I'm really happy with. All holes line up great, it has that rubberised hard back cover and the magnet will hold the cover folded up, albeit not the strongest magnet I have felt in an iPad case.

Thanks for the review! Just received mine whilst I patiently wait for my new ipad! I was originally going with a Pipetto case but having got a great deal on a ASK I cancelled my pre order for that and got this and also ordered a harber london sleeve.

Thank you for the recommendation! I actually love this one:

I already have the Smart Keyboard and pencil so this might be what most of use are looking for!

Do you have a name or link for this case as I'm only seeing the cases for the 2015 iPad Pro 12.9 on their website.

Another purchase of the ESR here, works perfectly with the ASK. I bought a bumper style from Poetic Direct via Amazon, but it weighted even more than the iPad and smelled rather strong. Alas, Amazon's return fees are more than half of the price of the bumper case so I just ate the cost and tossed it.
