Went to the store today... had to wait for 4 hours.. then I learned that they want to charge me 660 € for the exchange.
I begged them, told them what kind of a good apple customer I am (I AM) and even asked for the manager, but nothing. The didnt make any offers, said I couldnt purchase APP+ now (only 60 days after buying and the product needs to be in perfect shape) Plus it's 150 € in Germany and not 49.
But yea, great disappointment. I dont know what to do now, really. :(
I noticed that you got nMP 8 core......... hmm...

There s no "might cover it". APP+ will always cover it, unless it is lost.

You can skip buying APP+ on many iOS devices, but don't skip it on the 12.9" iPad Pro in particular. As you've already discovered, the out of warranty costs are absurd.
How much is out of warrent for 12.9?

Sorry to hear. Apple really need to reduce the bezels and make the iPad smaller. No wonder it's bent with its huge size.

Since other devices, iPhones included, can also bend if customers abuse them, I doubt a reduction in iPad size will help.

While I agree that in this case it's clearly a case of irregular use by TS, I also think that Apple can definitely make this less likely to happen by using better materials, such as the 7000 series aluminum used in the iPhone 6S. Bezel reduction, however, should not be done if it compromises ergonomics and handling of the device, but admittedly on a device as large as the 12.9" iPad Pro, bezel reduction may also be warranted.

Ok I just noticed this detail. As a fan (and often careless user) of Apple devices, I'm pretty glad I'm not in Germany.

Congrats...you've just become a star example of what not to do when someone buys the Pro 12.9".

Take note all you Pro owners out there..buy the AppleCare+.

Yeah, because we all need our screen covered by our hands and fingers whilst holding it. Apply enough force and you will bent it, the OP was unlucky and the iPad has clearly bent around something in his bag. **** happens get over it. Smaller bezels on an iPad, pmsl.

What apple should reduce it is that they do not replace devices that users have bent by themselves. Well, no need to wonder why those products cost so much extra - others have to pay the replacement.

So this guy was doing bending test in the second half of the video.
It appears that it took some pressure to bend it...however the op's ipad was bent little upward..

iPads really don't need much force to bend them, their isn't a lot to resist it really, the thin glass panel and alloy body and that's it, the inside is mainly bendy battery's.
I don't think the pro is made from the same material as the iPhone 6S.
You have to accept thin devices WILL bend easily. And Apple wants to possibly make them thinner.

I think all you can do is sell it on eBay and put the money towards a new one. And buy a better thicker case to make up for the iPads thinness.

Either that..or that guy in the video was very weak.

Between the 12.9 and 9.7"model iPad Pros, and the ownership represented here, on MR, the probability of 'bending' your iPad Pro 12.9" model is as likely as you will trip over your MacBook Pro charging cable ...knocking it from your desk and your 2-15, 15" rMBP smashes to bits and pieces. 91 days after buying and without AC+.
Seriously
I own a few of the 12.9" models and have replaced MacBook pros and iMac workstations in the field over the last six months ... and looking forward to finishing the rest. They're incredibly resilient, efficient, always connected and well powered 'computers' that happen to feel like a couple comics in your bag.
They're tools and sensitive instruments in a well built package. If your lifestyle will make caring for your iPad tougher, there's plenty of heavy duty cases that'll ensure survivability - in the context of 'bending'
I would wager that 5-10% of iPad Pro ownership has visited this site. It's a relatively niche product still and 'we' tend to use the bigger, well supported websites especially when support and bent iOS devices come into play ...the launch of iPhone 6/6+ was less than 2 years ago ...yet my 11 year old son has enjoyed it as a glorified iPod over the last year-I enjoyed it the first, no case. No bends. And he (shh, don't tell mom) sometimes falls asleep with it;)

We aren't easy on them and this is the first generation I've been comfortable with replacing the computers with. And they've been a home run
No bends - no scratches or dings, bruises or yellow displays.

Hey,

I realized the other day that my beloved 12,9" ipad had some weird effects on the upper left halve, when I pressed it with my finger even lightly, there was some rainbow and shadowing effect going on. I called the apple support today because I thought that this was a clear case for the warranty.
But when I took it out of my case, I realized, that in fact the device had bent significantly in that area somehow.
It's really a mystery to me as I have the device almost only at home all the time, in a case from day one, it has never fallen down or anything. The only explanation I have is that It was in my backpack some day and i leaned against a pillar or something and there it must've happened. Bit it's really completely unexpected behavior as I imagine one must put HUGE forces on a device like this in order to bend.

I was adviced to go to the apple store and let them have a look at it in order to see if they'll replace it.

What would be your advice for me? I really feel myself not guilty, cause I didnt do anything unexpected to my device but it's broken now anyways due to obvious construction weaknesses just like in the ip6 plus I would say..

I just witnessed a guy a week ago, who bent his iPad Pro while taking it out of a tight fitting case. Yes...this can happen. That's one of the reasons why I don't like some of these cases.

Was he using his knee to get it out?
Funny... But no...He just used both thumbs on a singe corner by pushing the case back. The end result was a 3mm bend very similar to the photo posted on this thread. I have a iPad Air 2 & a large iPad Pro myself...both of which are now the 3rd and 4th iPads that I've owned since my 1st gen. iPad in 2010 & I've never used cases. He couldn't get the case off when trying to fit his tablet to a new one...and that's what happened in the process.

Shouldn't have put it in your skinny jeans. :-/

Are you speaking from experience?

Mine has been in a case since day one and it started to be noticeable even in the case. It is warped, bowing in parts. I've had many iPads and they have NEVER done anything like this.

I am thinking this bending is caused by a change in the battery with it's temperature, it's a really large and thin battery so heat may cause it to slightly bend.

It's messed up that apple refuses to help with this, since it's obviously built in a poor way.
I'm just SO glad I was able to bend it back, it's unbelievable that it even worked :D

1) sorry that you encountered this problem...it's expensive. I would be lying if I said it cheap.

2) It sounds like you came to acceptance rather than denial or whatever lol

3) lol reversing the bend...if it works..more power to you.
