1) sorry that you encountered this problem...it's expensive. I would be lying if I said it cheap.

2) It sounds like you came to acceptance rather than denial or whatever lol

3) lol reversing the bend...if it works..more power to you.
[doublepost=1471563861][/doublepost]What case?
Yea I can totally live with it now, cause the problems with the screen have almost entirely disappeared.
And if you take the ipad in your hands without knowing what to look for, you'll barely notice.. good for my resale value.

Congrats...you've just become a star example of what not to do when someone buys the Pro 12.9".

Take note all you Pro owners out there..buy the AppleCare+.
Pro owner here. I have never purchased AppleCare (+ or otherwise) for any of my Apple devices. In all those years of owning multiple devices I have never needed it. I have conservatively saved $2000 (probably more) by not buying AppleCare. That's a few extra devices that I can purchase.

All that to say, there's no blanket fits-all rule. Each person needs to assess their history and whether the probability of needing AppleCare warrants the cost.

6+ months with the 12.9 Pro with only clear Con-Tact paper on the back for grip and scratch protection and swapping between a Smart Cover and ASK. I take it with me everywhere as it has replaced both my iPad Air 2 and 11" Macbook Air. No bending no damage. Not even when put in a backpack and going through airport security.

I occasionally use one of those cheap Amazon felt sleeves for transporting.

I'm intrigued by these reports of self-bending iPads. I'm not disputing what people are reporting but I AM curious as to what causes that to happen.

I have never bought AppleCare either for my iPhone or iPad , BUT if I owned a pro 12.9...I would get it.

Ymmv.

There s no "might cover it". APP+ will always cover it, unless it is lost.

You can skip buying APP+ on many iOS devices, but don't skip it on the 12.9" iPad Pro in particular. As you've already discovered, the out of warranty costs are absurd.

I wish I would've bought it for my 12.9" Pro. It's the *only* device I didn't buy AppleCare+ on and wow, did that come back and bite me square in the you-know-where.

I'm on my 3rd unit, I cracked two in a row.

The first time I was absolutely lucky and got a Senior Advisor on the phone to issue a "CS Code" and get me a free replacement at the local Apple Store.

Turned around three days later and cracked it the exact same way (Tried to use the fold-up stand on my fridge in the garage, it gave out from the weight and fell 7' to its death).

That time, it was $647 charged to the VISA.

Yeah, I wasn't feeling too great when I was underneath my car and heard the 2nd iPad smack the ground...

Let's say out of 10 owners you are probably one of 2 out of the TEN users sampled randomly here that actually care for devices. There are many, many, MANY, people who don't give seconds to think about how their devices can drop, bump, crack, get wet, be ruined over some idiotic/careless mishandling.

That's why AppleCare+ is there to protect against these "mistakes". $49 deductible + $99 up front for Applecare+ isn't expensive considering it does cost $599 to replace an iPad Pro 12.9".

My wife for example will break any and every piece of mechanical device just because she is one of the 8 out of 10 people who don't give two f**ks about these things even when they costs over $1000+.

Ok. So are you saying that you agree with me or disagree when I said, "There's no blanket fits-all rule. Each person needs to assess their history and whether the probability of needing AppleCare warrants the cost."?
