I am getting my son an iPad this christmas. It's main use is gaming, at the moment Fortnite is the main game (10 years old).
Currently the iPad Pro 10.5 64GB gen 2 sells for 430$ and the iPad Air 10.5" 64GB sells for 490$.
I now the Air 3 is newer, but it seems the old Pro still has some good performance.
Thoughts?

iPad Air gets my vote in this scenario as is more powerful and will therefore last longer. Will run Fortnite at maximum settings fine also. If using it primarily for gaming would invest also in a controller - Xbox or Play station (assume both work with fortnite on Ipad).

Wrong, even the Air 3 has the A12 Bionic and 3 GB of RAM, the Pro has slightly better graphics performance and 4 GB of RAM. Also, the Pro has two more speakers, better camera with OIS and ProMotion. The Pro is better overall.

The Pro is light years ahead. The only place where they’re comparable is the CPU performance of the A10X vs A12.

ipad pro is definitely the better device, except for more change of having a white spot

Another vote for the iPad Pro 2nd generation. The Air 3 is a neutered version of it, minus the A12 (which is slightly better with CPU speed than the A10X - but graphics performance on the A10X is faster by ~30%).

I'm using the 10.5 Pro, very happy with it. Aside from using it for productivity, it gets it's fair share of use for gaming and works quite well. Graphics are superb and the additional speakers are a really nice touch as they make for more of an immersive experience.

I have an iPad Air that’s 3 years old, 64 gig storage that’s full. Looking to replace but want 256 gigs. Is the iPad 3 10.2 available beyond 128 gig?
