I'm much less interested in the hardware of an iPad pro 2 than I am updates to iOS and iOS apps. I want all of my most-used apps to be optimized for this screen size (like Google Maps and Inbox), and I want iOS to adopt more OSX features to allow developers to do more with the existing device.

As long as you're not one of those "I want my iPad Pro 2 to run OSX" divas...

Given the current market perception we may never see a successor for the ipad pro. If the ios does not evolve to a pro os along with the apps this is nothing more than a glorified netflix machine for the majority of users.

sure i would take that. I almost got the modbook pro, but ended up with a cintiq companion instead. i think tablets are the future. but, for the near future, i was thinking more of a hybrid, IOS for daily use, but with the option of plugged into a Mac as a screen like a cintiq. all the ipad needs is video capture card to do it without all the lag and poor performance of astropad.

This! I'd also accept the "official modbook pro" solution, but an iOS device that could act as a Cintiq with dedicated video capture hardware would almost be better because it would still be an excellent portable device. Astropad is completely unworkable because it requires the host machine to encode and stream the video.

I'm still convinced this could be done with the current iPP, but it would require someone to spend a bit of money experimenting with external video capture devices (and writing an astropad-like piece of software designed to handle THAT particular video stream input). Astropad's devs are in the position to make this happen, but I'm guessing they don't see a big market for supporting hardware video capture devices.

That isn't enough, I want the iPad Pro to have bootcamp support.....

You're being sarcastic, but yes please. OS agnostic > all.

Haha, oh I'm not. I just don't see hardware as being a limiting factor on the iPad line right now. It seems to me like software improvements could bring the biggest value.

I expect that iOS 10 will bring some big changes to the Pro. Just like we had to wait for a lot of support for the bigger screens when the iPhone 5 came out..

Huh, that would be awesome actually. Impossible, but awesome.

Flashback to the first Harry Potter film..

The hardware is so good with the Pro and the software has so much catching up to do that I think it will probably be 3 years before I replace, the only thing I regret is not getting the cellular model.

how do you define good? its good for ARM class processors, top of that class, but it cant match 2 year old core class intel processors. to me this is not good for a pro machine. its good for consumer class apps. which makes sense since that's what sells the most tablets. but it still leaves actual creative pro's pining for better hardware and software.

If intel can make ATOM run a full OS no reason apple cant do it also. i still think they need to down grade the current Pro to just ipad, and give them all the pencil. they make nice sketchbooks and note taking machines. They still have a the opportunity to make a real pro tablet.

I don't understand the people that hate Apple products and come to Macrumors just to insult Apple products. It's such a weird thing to me.

Intel Atoms running a full OS? You mean Windows? That is a horrible tablet OS. You are classically stupid if you think that the iPad Pro needs to run a desktop OS on a tablet to make it pro. And I think the benchmarks have proven that the A9X is more powerful than you think. I looking forward to iOS 10 to wipe up your drool.

Dudes I have a iPad pro and Mac Pro hooked to a cintiq 27. I also own a cintiq companion. iPad is not that fast sorry to break it to you. One synthetic benchmark proves nothing.

I just want the best device, don't care who makes it. I'll rock Windows or Mac just depends who pulls it off. Windows runs my cintiq companion tablet just fine, and photoshop, Zbrush, or whatever else I need. Don't hate because you are too poor to own a pro level workstation, or too stupid to master two different operating systems.

I don't hate apple, Wacom or Windows. I'm just keeping it real. If u all want to sit here and grease each other's balls with marketing bs , go right ahead. It's your right. I'm just a tablet enthusiast working as a freelance illustrator. I want a apple tablet with a better OS and faster hardware.

Keeping it real? Please! I've been using computers since well before Windows. Before graphical interfaces. You make me laugh.

But iOS apps aren't as heavy as desktop apps, which is why they get away with lower specs. So in a sense, the iPad doesn't really need to match the specs of unrelated hardware.

To put things in context, a retina Macbook running Final Cut Pro can edit 4k video much more quickly than a better-specced ultrabook running Adobe Premiere.

Which is fine, so long as there are customers for the product. That's like complaining that people are buying 7 Series BMWs to go grocery shopping instead of using the product for its intended purpose. So?

I've been using my iPad Pro for my actual profession to make an actual paycheck for the past couple of days. I've needed to review and absorb quite a bit of PDF documentation. The Apple Pencil and iPad Pro made it easy for me to annotate and highlight efficiently. Not to mention organize and cross-reference. The all-day battery life helped, too. Not everyone has the same profession or has the same professional needs.

I don't know why some of you really want to have a mouse for iPP. I might have missed something about Surface Pro come with mouse??? Or any large tablets with mouse???
Yes I would agree, it's redundant once u have a stylus. I don't use a mouse for any of my tablets pc's. A stylus runs a full OS just fine. But maybe some people would just like the option.

I think for some it equates to a paradigm shift they aren't ready to make yet.

That's great man , I wish I could do that for my work.
Till then I'm stuck on Windows machines when I need a mobile workstation.

Ya man I agree. Just wishing they made a tablet for my needs too. This thread is about our individual wishes right? I would keep my iPad pro for fun, it's good for that (for me). And also purchase a pro level tablet workstation. I like apple that much, I just don't understand why they only focus on prosumer devices.

This is what I use my Wacom Stylus is much like a mouse and to keep screen clean from dirty/oily fingers.

I know the iPad Pro 2 will be so much better like the iPad Air 2 was compared to the iPad Air!

I guess those people use their pro a lot on desks but me? I Use it far more on my lap than on a desk so don't see why having a mouse is a huge need.
