We need more pictures and opinions from those who have received their new iPads, industry reviews are good but I'm looking forward to forum members opinions

I think there will be a flood later today and into the night as most shipments are today. I'm looking forward to them too—it's always fun to compare one's own new product experience with others.

If your interested.. Give it a try, buy it.

I always take the approach having to experience the product first hand.. Given that people have different experience. You can always return it.

I really like mine, the Space Gray is great and I love the silver trim around the edges of the device.

The camera sticking out doesn't affect it's ability to be stable while laying flat. I usually use a foldable stand with my tablets so it's a non issue for me. The flash is great and it takes great pictures, I won't use that feature often but it's nice to have when my phone isn't nearby.

The display is great and vibrant, I like what TrueTone does and I can see myself using it a lot. The speaker system is good, it's not the same system as found in the iPad Pro 12.9" with the deep resonating chambers. It's essentially the same speakers in the Air 2, just four of them. They sound nice, there is a little vibration but it's not a big deal and nowhere as bad as the Air 2.

It's wicked fast, haven't had any slowdown issues and it is very much the same experience I had on my 12.9" iPad Pro. I greatly prefer this over the larger iPad because it's easier for me to use and much more convenient.

I started with the original iPad and then switched to an Android tablet for a while. I got sick of that so I sold it and went without a tablet until the iPad Air was released. I used the Air a crap ton and I loved it. I sold that in anticipation of the Pro 12.9" thinking bigger was better. I got rid of the 12.9" since I didn't really use it as much as I should and I'm glad I got this smaller one as a replacement.

Overall initial impressions are great and I'm sure I will use this as much as I used my iPad Air, if not more.

Thanks for your detailed reply, it sounds great, going to go ahead and order and try it for myself

Ummm How do you know that the speakers are not the same in the 9.7 inch Pro found in the 12.9 inch Pro?? Basically What is the DIFFERENCE?? o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Sorry but nobody(even reviewers and users) has NOT even said mention they are not the same speakers in the 9.7 inch Pro until you said it!!

For now I am going to doubt you on this one!!!

More exclamation points next time please.

Also, maybe a quick acoustical physics 101 class at your community college. The resonating speaker chambers of the 12.9 are physically larger than the 9.7 because the iPad 12.9 is physically larger. Larger speakers are, and sound, different than smaller ones. Kinda hard to argue that.

ah the sound of a poor apple sheep who was ready to drop their hard earned dollars on the pro 9.7 only to now question the validity of someone who actually has it and is saying the speakers are crap and not as good as the 12.9 . Sucks don't it?

Is "not as good as the most expensive model" = crap?

Good news: My 9.7" iPad Pro and silicon back cover arrived this morning.

Bad news: I still have to secure a Smart Keyboard somehow, switch my iPad mini 3 over to my wife's name, format her iPad mini 1 to get ready to get rid of it, and get the eBay auction finished for my rMBP.

I'm not touching the new hardware until I get all my old gear to its new home(s).

My pad arrived today at 2.45 pm (very late) Heres a picture of my ipad pro alongside my ipad pro9.7 with both of them with a smart keyboard . My keyboard has a problem with the spacebar though . It sometimes doesn't respond and i have to disconnect and connect again . Has anyone experienced this before?

Waiting on the FedEx dude. Shows on the truck for delivery at 9:30 this morning but no joy yet. Probably hitting the residential deliveries until later so that someone is home. Went ahead and put our old 1st Gen Airs on eBay last night.

Regarding to the photos how did you change the wallpaper in the background of the home screen to a custom one?? I would like to do that having my own custom wallpaper in the background in the home screen. :)

Got my silver 128gb 9.7 pro this afternoon. Restored my old iPad Air backup onto it, updated to 9.3.1 and have been playing with it a bit since then.

First impressions: crazy fast and smooth. TrueTone is awesome. I'm not sure what the point of NightShift is with this - why would you need both? Also, I'm shocked by how much thinner it is compared to the already thin Air1.

I haven't yet got a pencil or keyboard, but I probably will over time.

I took a few photos to test the cameras (my current best iOS camera is the iPhone 6). The photos came out nice enough (nothing amazing though). I was a bit shocked to realise that they were live-photos. One came out quite cool.

One of the main things for me was rectifying my mistake with only getting a 16gb iPad Air, so I've been merrily downloading new apps.

Overall pretty happy :)

You go to Settings > Wallpaper > Choose a New Wallpaper

And you can take a screenshot or from a jpg online to set it . Mine came from superimposing my ipad air 2's backup onto the new one

This is my first iPad, but so far it's "blazingly" fast! Apps and motions are all very smooth. They open in a blink of an eye. The Apple Pencil is also an absolute charm. Works flawlessly with the Apple Notes application.

Camera is also superb, and glad I can have access to live photos (I have an iPhone6 Plus, not S)...don't get me wrong, I don't intend to use my iPad for photo shooting, but it's a nice to have.

More to come!

I imagine they made both available, because they do have different behaviors, and right now there's only one iOS device that has a True Tone display.

I'm very happy with my new Pro 9.7" especially for its performance and buttery smoothness as well as the really superb display. Only thing I'm disappointed at is the speakers - They were said by reviewers to be amazing/great but imo they are decent to good, much better bass than my Air 1 and they are louder although was fine with the max volume of the Air 1's speakers.

Pick mine up fro the apple store at lunchtime after reserving first thing this morning. Its quicker than my Air 2. Really nice piece of kit. I haven't tested the pencil yet and i haven't tested the smart keyboard in anger as yet. I got the Ipad case in charcoal and it matches really nicely with the keyboard. Total all round protection.

Finally got here. This is the first Apple device I've received where the battery was completely dead on arrival. Had to charge it up some before I could set it up. My wife's iPad was showing about 60% battery which is typical.

Setup didn't go smoothly as my screens got screwed up and nothing is in the right place.
