The IPAD is USB C but the pen is 1st gen and still has lightning so you now need to buy an adapter to charge the apple pen gen 1 wtf apple.

I'm hoping these new braided cables are going to be much more durable. The current plastic/rubber sleeved Apple cables are prone to wearing out where the rubbered wire meets the plug.
Yeah. The problem is Apple devices last too long and have updates that keep them new each year. A friend was complaining about her Mac starting to get slow. I looked it had the old MagSafe connection. I said isn’t computer over 8 years old and still being used as a primary computer? She said I guess we Apple folks are a bit spoiled.

Hopefully not so crap fragile as the traditional cable that prematurely filled landfills.
My Apple cables last me a year or two depending on how careless I am with them. Ironically I have bought a number or third parties several of which were close in price to Apples and they literally crapped out after a few weeks of use. One lasted a week at most. At least if I take it back to Apple there’s a chance they will comp me a new one to keep me happy.

I wish they’d include a USB 3 or even 4 capable cable rather than the USB 2 cable.
This was going to be my question. They don't indicate anywhere on their product page what USB spec these cables are. So annoying.

The USB-C connector supports basically every generation of USB which leads to this issue. Is the cable USB 2, 3, 4, does it carry DisplayPort or not, can it carry 100W, Etc…

Wonder if this does video out too

I’m tempted to get one because honestly the cheap ones you get off Amazon can be so unreliable the price difference is just not worth it.

These things get super dirty btw
The cables that I carry around, or that sit on desks, I'm fine with them having woven coverings, but the ones that end up on the floor or in the car, I seek out more traditional plastic/rubber covered cables (usually Anker) for those - less likely to get messy, and easier to clean off if they do.

I think I may be asking for too much. But it would be ideal if the USB-C cable matched the colors of the iPad.
If the global supply chains weren't such a mess, they might do that, but things still aren't back to normal - I suspect they don't want to shut down manufacturing/sales of, say, yellow iPads, for a while, just because they can't source yellow cables for a few weeks.

I ordered the woven cable (MQKJ3AM/A) and it just arrived. The box says "Supports charging up to 60W and USB 2." It's a bit disappointing that a Charge Cable doesn't support charging at 100W. A quick test shows that it is wired as one might expect for a cable of those specs and it doesn't have an e-marker.
