Most useless product ever...

Nah, it has way more porpoise than the Apple Watch. It is actually a bigger touchscreen, good for kiosks, businesses and stuff. Not to play with while watching TV.

But I can imagine moms going to recitals to record their kids with that.

Prepare for much disappointment; Apple have spoken out publicly about how terrible a decision it would be to confuse mobile, touch OS' and Desktop OS'.

I prepare to eat the hat I've never owned, I'll have one made from rice paper, just for you.

they also said anything over 4" is too big for a phone... so there is hope

Yes indeed, but a screen size increase is slightly less of a design and usability/UX challenge, than modifying OS X to run on a tablet... by a factor of around 10,000,000

Yes, the Ipad PRo is certainly purpoise friendly... But, what about their cousins the Dolphin, who thinks of them... Not Apple! Samsung should fill the Dolphin gap in producing flipper friendly devices ;-).

The Surface Pro 3 has been gaining a lot of ground in the business sector. We're beginning to move our C-level team over to these, and off traditional laptops. Using the Dock, you have a desktop or tablet depending on your needs.

I personally have mixed feelings about it. Win 8.1 isn't a great experience on a tablet at its maximum, prettiest resolution. It all works but isn't the smoothest experience -- when I'm in "laptop mode" with Typecover I'm effectively using a lighter laptop with a keyboard and trackpad that are acceptable, but not great... when I'm in "tablet mode" and using anything on the Windows desktop, I'm poking at tiny UI elements with the pen.

Still I can see Apple wanting a piece of this pie. We might see OSX on a slate ... and it probably won't be called an "iPad" so as to not confuse it with a device running iOS (the looks alone will cause some confusion anyway).

Very true, that's what i think the iPad "PRO" might have OS X on it. Just because nothing has been leaked doesn't mean it's not possible. It's software, it's a lot easier to control leaks on that than hardware.
