I'm a high school teacher in a board that encourages students (and staff) to bring their own devices, and I personally encourage my students to bring and use their own laptops and tablets. That being said, I eventually see just about every device in the wild. iPads, MacBooks, and Surfaces in particular seem to be pretty popular in my school these days, but so far I have only seen a single iPad Pro outside of an Apple Store.

I've seen one in the 'wild', which was really just my office where one of our other outside sales guys has started using it in place of our laptops. I was so impressed how he was using it that I went out and bought one. Another coworker has since purchased one as well.

It's becoming a popular product within our company.

I got mine upon its release. I travel domestically and internationally...Now, months later I still haven't seen one in a hotel, Starbucks, Peets or Caribou Coffee, places I frequent weekly.

Like the Apple Watch, it's as though they don't exist. Not all that surprising, yet I expected to see a few by now. Especially since I'm very observant, keenly aware and watching for the latest in tech.

I only use mines in school. Brought it into Chick-Fil-A to look over my notes before. Some people looked, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I was hesitant about the large size in public, but as long as you're not doing something rediculous like taking pictures with it, it should be fine :)

I was at the airport using my IPP recently, and I had a lot of people ask me about it "is that the new big ipad?". Most often people expressed surprise over the large size and then commented on the weight after they held it.
I just saw my first apple watch outside of the apple store this week.
I see surface pros all the time from students and other attorneys.

I have yet to see any of them out other than my own at Starbucks. Very rare event happened yesterday, as I saw two folks using their Surface, and that was the first time I had noticed them out as well.

i take mine out everyday and have been asked many times about it but have yet to see one out.

Do you use one in your practice? If so, how? I've been thinking of picking one up but I'm not sure it would be useful beyond satisfying my tech urge.

I haven't seen any, but I see lots of surface tablets. Mine pro doesn't leave my house, I take my mini.

I find it easier to use in court than a computer and I can read documents and mark them up with the pencil, save it as a pdf and email to myself. If need be, I have a bluetooth keyboard I use to type although I find Word clunky on the ipad pro. It is by no means a necessary tool, but I have found it easier to use in some instances than a computer. As a tool for my law practice - it is just less paper I have to keep track of and waste in terms of note taking with clients and document review and research. It is easier on my middle aged eyes to read on. It also makes signing and filing pleadings very easy.

Surface Pros everywhere

I've only seen two surfaces in a professional setting (I work in the finance sector) and two on a train in a city of four million people.

I haven't yet seen an iPP in the wild.

By contrast, I see regular iPads everywhere as a consumption and accessory device.

Both iPP and Surface, I think are prohibitively expensive in Australia for a great many as they were released after our dollar started to tank.

In Apple's case, they want us to pay high-end laptop prices for a device and operating system that doesn't offer high-end functionality at least for those of us looking to get work done without convoluted, spaghetti bowl inspired workarounds.

In Microsoft's case, the Surface is a better value proposition but its execution is flawed.

When do you see any iPad out and about unless you have a reason. Its bad enough carrying a phone and seeing some these days they need to look at these phones all the time which is totally crazy.

Just spotted a wild iPad pro in a lecture this morning, unfortunately I was in the wrong classroom so I didn't get to see more than "iPad Pro and pencil!" Looking forward to getting mine a week on Friday and using it for class.

I occasionally use mine in a coffee shop or when travelling.

The only other-person use I witnessed was on Sunday when I took my kids to the local farm. There was a guy with a Gold iPad Pro taking photos of sheep and goats with it. It did look a bit ridiculous in that scenario. Even one of the pigs rolled his eyes when he saw it.

Sheep and pigs? Did someone get arrested at an Apple Store?
