Even if that was the case, what kind of help was this person expecting here? Go to the Apple store. Call Apple. You may vent, share and other stuff here but certainly don't come here with something like this and expect nobody to call you out for BS when you say nobody did anything to it and one day it was like that.

Might as well post a thread saying your pregnant but you don't know how it happened.

One of the reasons I guess is due to NZ not having a retail store. So she may have come here for advice as the first step.

Maybe some useful information about how this might have happened before phoning Apple. I sometimes post a question on a chat board before phoning support to help me clarify what I should be asking. I think she's on the level.

Really? Useful information from us on why her iPad Pro bent length wise, when she said nobody touched it and it "just happened" one day?

I know I sound like an ass and maybe I can be but I love helping people. However, I just don't believe anything about this particular thread. I don't care what you can "theorize". **** just doesn't bend all by itself. It really doesn't.

I am moving on from this thread. OP - Good luck!

X2... Love to hear the explanation when trying to get it replaced from Apple.

We had an iPad 3 bend in exactly the same place. My freakin brother in law sat on it (on a couch) and for a while it was also a "mystery".

If you really have not done anything to cause the bend in the new iPad Pro,i am thinking it's an over charging battery problem. Does it feel warmer then usual?

The question is how easily it bends, not whether it bends "spontaneously." I have seen two iPad Pros and both are slightly bent.

I really want to know if it's still safe to use my sons has bent also in the charging spot and it happened overnight just noticed this evening I lay flat to charge on bedside table unplug. My son is 6 and certainly couldn't bend it!

Yup, that's what I mean metal expands when it's hot.

For the record though, the LiIon battery in a MacBook swells as a function of the battery shorting, not because it got hot.

It expands when it gets hot, but contracts when cooling down. It might have started to get hot when charging and starts to contract when it cools down. When this is done over and over again it might put extra force on the area where there is less mass due to its internal design. There may also be a restricting point inside the area of the iPad where it is starting to get hot and then cooling down every time you charge it. Once the metal expands and contracts it never returns to the exact position of its prior state.

No way the heat from charging did this. This device was sat on or some force applied to bend it. No mystery here.

There's more to this story than we are being told. I've thrown mine in my backpack since day one and have had no issues. I get these same stories from employees when they drop their iPhone and say they have no idea what happened. I've literally been told they woke up and it was damaged. Really? COMPLETE BS.

Brand new user. Looking at your name, the thread you're in, the use of a child that is 6, I am calling BS on your post.

Because a 6 year old would never sit on it or put his knee on it while it was buried in a sofa cushion or anything like that. o_O

He may not be strong enough to bend it with his hands, but his body weight could certainly cause the case to warp.

The iPads are not bending themselves. Someone is applying force in some way -- prying off a case, sitting on it, leaning against it and trapping it between body and table edge... something. A stiff metal and glass object does not just bend itself. And if heat from charging is causing it to warp, then the heat should be sufficient to cause 2nd or 3rd degree burns to whomever picks it up.

Yep, I believe the 6 year old sat on it....the only plausible cause unless it was warped by heat
