iPad Pro Naked?

I use mine with the SKB. But I just ordered a skin for the back from Skinit.com because I don't want my iPad to get scratched up.

I would never think of putting a case on an iPad. It'd just get too bulky. I use a smart cover and a zip pouch thing when transporting it though. I only use covers because I like being able to instantly use it in tablet mode without anything hanging off of it or snapped onto it.

I got the iPP 9.7 soon after launch, when good third party cases were still coming out, until recently I ran it naked. Got a small light scratch on the Apple logo over the period of a month. Since I travel with this thing I felt a case was necessary.

I use a Skinomi matte vinyl protector for the sides and back. On the front I have a tempered glass protector. Only use the Smart Keyboard for typing, otherwise I am fully naked. For travel I use a Colcasac 11" MBA sleeve.

I just got a iPad Pro a few days ago and tried it naked but didn't want to chance it and bought a UAG case for it. It only cost $49 from Best Buy and seems pretty good at protecting it.

I've been back and forth between Apple silicone case and Smart Cover, to just Smart Cover on the 12.9. I think I like the Smart Cover only best. I don't really mind if I get small scratches on the back, I just don't want to drop it and crack the screen. If it lands wrong, I am not convinced the thin silicone case will protect it that much either though.
I haven't dropped an iPad in the last 3 years, so I think it's unlikely I'll drop this one.

I've had six of the seven 9.7" iPads & literally cannot imagine not using the Smart Cover....
I mean it is SO convenient to have it prop itself up & adds no bulk, as it only covers the front.
I don't get why anyone wouldn't; it feels like purposefully suffering to "prove a point" or something... not for me! I've used the iPad as my main "PC", since inception & my 27" iMac gets just TV and movie duty- so I actually need mine to be comfortable and functional.

I really like the Silicone Case and Smart Cover for my iPP9.7, more than I thought I would;. I originally wanted similar to iPad Air 2's leather case and cover 1 piece design.

I have personally always used my iPads naked since the original. My use case was games and video when traveling and then mostly just consumption at home.

With my 9.7 Pro I am finding that I am using it a ton more around the office, mostly for notes using the Pencil. Also using it more at home to deal with the occasional after hours email. So I decided to spring for the silicon cover + Smart Keyboard. If I am going to be tossing it on tables to take notes and hauling it around the office all day I want a little more protection. An expensive combo, but happy with it so far.

I'm liking using my 9.7 Pro without a case but think it's easier to type with a case that props it up a little.

Which iPad have you never had?

I also have the ASK with a complete matte skin wrap on the iPad Pro 9.7

No added bulk and looks great!

The 4th gen...
Lol; it snuck up on me.
I was used to keeping them for a year; selling & plonking down the few dollars more for a new one.
Then - with ZERO fanfare, they snuck that one in like four months later; I just waited and got the Air.

My iPad Pro 9.7 has been naked since day one. Today, I started noticing that the bazel around the iPad has a couple small dents. I feel so sad and I did not know what happened :( I always take care of my iPad extremely well. Thinking about getting the back case now for my Smart Keyboard. I do not want to pay top price for the Apple one so any recommendation would be highly appreciated.

I'd recommend the silicone case and a glass screen protector if you don't mind glare for the trade off of peace of mind.
